9ff Porsche GTurbo R Quicker Than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport(Feb 03, 2012)The Bugatti has been the top dog for several years now and everyone hates the top dog. It's just human nature. The car is a technical marvel just like the GTR but that also means they have a big red bullseye on their back.
Hennessey to Transform McLaren MP4-12C into 800hp Monster(Feb 01, 2012)Instead of throwing out juvenile expletives how about informing everyone why it is you dislike Hennessy. Like it or not this shop produces some extraordinary performance machines.
Hennessey to Transform McLaren MP4-12C into 800hp Monster(Feb 01, 2012)I've heard the same things. I also recall several of his Vipers catching fire during comparison tests for magazines and TV. Can't speak personally on whether or not all the claims are true. I guess when you push the envelope things happen.
Gordon Calls on NASCAR to maintain its Low-Tech Tradition(Jan 27, 2012)@Brandon, Jeff did drive an F1 car for a day. Not in a race but on a track. It was some deal where he and an F1 driver swapped seats for a day. Both did very well in the others car and both admitted how difficult it was.
The World Mourns as Another Pagani Zonda F Crashes in Hong Kong(Jan 26, 2012)Worked as a wrecker driver for several years and have seen plenty of sport cars in accidents. Not saying it isn't the drivers fault, just saying it might not be. You don't damage both ends of a car without speed or help from another car.
The World Mourns as Another Pagani Zonda F Crashes in Hong Kong(Jan 26, 2012)Wrong Kent. That is a light car and is made up of carbon fiber. If he was turning at that intersection and clipped in the rear it may have partially spun him into those poles. The debris isn't scattered all over like a high speed hit.
The World Mourns as Another Pagani Zonda F Crashes in Hong Kong(Jan 26, 2012)Everyone is quick to blame the driver but he may be innocent. Considering the front and rear damage he may have been stopped, rear ended, and shoved into the vehicle in front. All I'm saying is that until facts are given curb the assumptions.
Video: Nissan Juke-R Showcases Supercar Killer Potential(Jan 22, 2012)That's because you don't have the means to purchase the others. It's what's referred to as "sour grapes". Most people, not all, but most will buy the best they can afford. A Casio watch keeps time as well as a Rolex but the Rolex says you've arrived.
GM Back On Top of the World, for Chevrolet a Record Year(Jan 21, 2012)That's the point. This car will be auctioned off to raise money for injured veterans. Would I paint a car like this myself? No. Would I bid on it if I had the money? Most definitely.
GM Back On Top of the World, for Chevrolet a Record Year(Jan 21, 2012)Kevin, if your not going to purchase things from companies that have been helped by the government, be it ours or someone else's, you better thin down your shopping list tremendously. I'm not just talking about cars.
Porsche Panamera S Body Kit by Wurde(Jan 20, 2012)Overall, not bad. Little busy ahead of the rear wheel with the twin scoops but otherwise a fairly good looking kit.
Lee Iacocca’s 1991 Ferrari F40 Up for Auction(Jan 17, 2012)They say dynamite is boring until the fuse is lit. The F40 is the same. Just a mound of plastic, metal, rubber and fluids.....until the key is cranked. Then it becomes a time machine. To fulfill it's destiny it must be driven.
Lee Iacocca’s 1991 Ferrari F40 Up for Auction(Jan 17, 2012)I like the Camaro and respect the GTR but neither of them will EVER represent what the F40 did to car culture. I'm not a huge Ferrari fan but it's the F40 and the Countach from Lambo that defined the start of the super/hypercar.
TIKT Creates the Uber-Powerful Triple X Corvette C6 ZR1(Jan 16, 2012)Surprisingly this is one of the first times I've seen a European tuner do performance upgrades along with body kit. Usually they add 20 hp, tack on 350 pounds of body mods and charge a fortune.
Part 2: CarBuzz Picks the Best in Show at Detroit in NFL Playoff Format(Jan 15, 2012)If they never change the overall package and keep riding the same line then as innovative as the upgrades are its never a game changer. The release of the Boxster, Caymen, GT and Cayanne were game changers. They redefined a segment.
Part 2: CarBuzz Picks the Best in Show at Detroit in NFL Playoff Format(Jan 15, 2012)Rudolf, there's good and bad cars in every country. You talk about how superior the Porshe is but it should be if you think about it. In all the years the 911 has been around it has changed little. The first ones look very much like the new ones.
Video: Autocar Compares Corvette GS against Nissan GT-R, Jaguar XKR(Jan 03, 2012)I think that it's not really Chevy that's priced it too high. The high price is most likely due to taxes and import fees. When Australia Top Gear tested a ZR1 they said that after the taxes and right hand drive conversion it cost $300,000.
Video: Autocar Compares Corvette GS against Nissan GT-R, Jaguar XKR(Jan 03, 2012)Both the ZR1 and the GTR are beasts. On any given day with the right driver one will beat the other. They are very close on performance. Thanks to both manufacturers for providing such worthy vehicles.
Video: Autocar Compares Corvette GS against Nissan GT-R, Jaguar XKR(Jan 03, 2012)As a Corvette guy I'll agree this is sort of a rigged comparison. But what else really competes with the Vette? It's much cheaper here but that doesn't help overseas. Truth is the Vette will usually go up against higher performance cars than itself.
From too Rusty to be Saved to an Astonishing Mustang Mach 1(Dec 30, 2011)I'm not a big fan of Mustangs although there are a couple I do like. Regardless of my likes and dislikes, this is a very nice car. Kudos to both the owner and the shop for a job extremely well done. This isn't about money. It's love for a car.
Man Crashes 'Free' Lamborghini Murcielago After Only 6 Hours(Dec 22, 2011)FedEx, UPS and Frito Lay also run big rigs. I'm talking over the road tractors with 53' trailer. I'm not sure which he drives so he may drive a smaller rig or box truck.
Man Crashes 'Free' Lamborghini Murcielago After Only 6 Hours(Dec 22, 2011)Kevin, anyone that drives tractor trailer is referred to as a professional driver. Just like any career there are those that are more professional and then there are those that aren't. For what it's worth, it's not the easiest job out there.
Man Crashes 'Free' Lamborghini Murcielago After Only 6 Hours(Dec 22, 2011)Wrecked is a bit harsh. I read that it had same scratches on the front and rear bumpers and a bent wheel. Also, he was planning on selling it because he has bills and the insurance was $3500 for 6 months. He was giving people rides before selling it.
Hennessey Previews 800hp Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8(Dec 21, 2011)Agree with Dustin. They've been in the business a long time and have produced some truly wicked rides. May not be the best "bang for the buck" but it's a hell of a lot of bang.
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 21, 2011)@ Hendrik, they may have not received a bailout such as GM & Chrysler but they get massive tax breaks, passes on environmental issues and things of that nature.
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 21, 2011)So the IPO goes down. Does that mean it won't go up again? What would the IPO be worth if the companies had bankrupted? I've heard people say that we should let them bankrupt. Someone would buy them. Who? The Chinese? No thanks.
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 20, 2011)demand for raw products. Then the dealerships would close across the country putting more people out of work. Then there is advertising, security, grounds workers ect.. It's like a pebble in a pond, the ripples are endless. LET IT GO!
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 20, 2011)proverbial soap boxes try this out once. Add up the unemployment cost of the 70% of the plant workers who wouldn't find a job after GM or Chrysler went bankrupt. Then add in there all the parts manufacturers that would lose work and then the reduced
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 20, 2011)I wish folks would just let go of all the bailout BS. All of them have taken government help at one time or another and for the most part paid it back. The management made some poor choices and they needed help. Since you want to get up on your
Supreme 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Gulf Oil Race Car up for Auction(Dec 11, 2011)Zora was a crafty guy. Had it not been for him I believe the Corvette would have failed. It was his memo to the brass that stepped up the performance. Would have loved to have met him.
Still No Takers for the 1964 Pontiac Banshee Concept(Dec 10, 2011)The Stingray (one word) came out in 1968 and was influenced by this concept. The Sting Ray (two words) came out in 1963, the one year of the beautiful split window, was not.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)I take it back. Your not tools. Your merely children without a clue. Someday the shoe will be on the other foot and hopefully you'll remember how you felt.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)If anyone are tools it's you two. You are what's representative of what's wrong in society today. It's just a damn car. A collection of metal, plastic, rubber and fluids arranged a certain way. Maybe someday you'll know what it's like to really hurt.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)Respect seems to be a forgotten art these days. Would any of you approve of running a key up the side of this car? He deserves it, yet I would never approve. But at the very least he deserves a swift kick in the nuts. Then he'll qualify for the spot
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)Ryan, the price is paid by the person who is handicapped. Granted that many take advantage of this, having little true handicap. But then there are those who struggle at the least bit of movement. Some are elderly, others vets, many born with it.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 03, 2011)What's died up your rear Anthony? Nobody but you said anything about the U.S. No matter where in the world it's done, to park in a handicap spot illegally makes you an ass. Oh, and by the way, there are more than a few London's in America.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 03, 2011)Screw giving him a ticket. Should have blocked it in and called to have it towed. Bet that would have gotten his attention. What a prick!
Unique of the Week: 2009 Mosler MT900S(Dec 03, 2011)Besides the engine, other Corvette parts were used. Door handles an the lights behind the rear wheels can be seen here.
Range Rover Evoque by Marangoni HFI-R(Dec 03, 2011)Uhh.... its the tires that are red. The wheels are that metal thingy inside of the red thingy. Just saying.
725hp BMW X6 M Typhoon by G-Power(Dec 03, 2011)Don't care for the rims. They just look too thin and dainty. A vehicle as big and brutal as this one should have rims that remind you of a meat cleaver. Sharp but powerful.
UAE Flag Wrap for the Bugatti Veyron(Dec 01, 2011)Looks like it was made with leftover Lego bricks. Doing this to a Bugatti (albeit not my favorite car) is akin to painting a Hello Kitty purse on the Mona Lisa.
Video: Something this Ugly Can Only Be from Russia(Nov 27, 2011)Have to agree. We have our fair share of idiotic looking cars here in America. Besides, I imagine they fewer options over there as far as what to work with and aftermarket suppliers. Kudos to this guy for making the car his.
The 2011 LA Auto Show in Pictures(Nov 24, 2011)$60-65,000 for this. Waste of money. You can get much better, faster and comfortable cars for that. What do you do if it breaks? Take it to Mexico City and pray you get out of there before some drug lord cuts your head off? No thanks.
The 2011 LA Auto Show in Pictures(Nov 24, 2011)Surprised the electric cars passed. Considering how many actors feel they are making a political statement by driving electrics and hybrids you'd think this was a target show.
Video: World’s Most Expensive Car(Nov 24, 2011)Along with the windows is that the blue one looks to have a trunk and the rear fenders are wider. Still, little difference between the two visually from this shot.
2013 Nissan GT-R Furthers the Lore of Godzilla; Hits 62mph in 2.84 Sec.(Nov 23, 2011)Hey Alanda, the majority of posts are giving it credit. Very few people are putting it down. Of coarse, by saying "fanboy" your putting down everybody that disagrees with you. Not to mention its an idiotic term to use.
U.S. Fiat 500 Sales Fail to Meet Expectations(Nov 23, 2011)Problem is that the 500 is the only Fiat available. It might bring customers in but if it doesn't suit them there's no other options but to leave. Bring over the 4c and maybe a sedan and things may change. Fiat name just isn't strong in America.
2013 Nissan GT-R Furthers the Lore of Godzilla; Hits 62mph in 2.84 Sec.(Nov 22, 2011)The high level of tuning is a valid point. When you squeeze this amount of power and torque from a smaller engine it will reduce reliability. RPM is higher to find all the power whereas a V8 only needs to rev to 6-7,000 to produce the same.
2013 Nissan GT-R Furthers the Lore of Godzilla; Hits 62mph in 2.84 Sec.(Nov 22, 2011)I'll be the first to admit I'm not a fan of this car. It's not a Nissan thing because I had a 2004 Titan and loved it. Regardless of my likes or dislikes this car puts down extraordinary stats. The numbers don't lie.
Big News from the New McLaren Production Center: MP4-27 is Next in Line(Nov 21, 2011)Another thing to remember is that when this came out you didn't have many high speed o-ring tires out there. Everything about this car was designed for speed. As much a motoring icon as Bugatti or any other car ever will be.
Camaro ZL1 Chief Engineer Slams Mustang Shelby GT500(Nov 20, 2011)When these two line up I think all of us will find that they are very close in most parameters. End of the day, whichever car has the better driver will win out. These two duking it out has provided us, the buyer, with awesome choices.
The Clean Diesel Jaguar XF Makes it across America at 62.9mpg(Nov 20, 2011)Maybe if they advertised this accomplishment over here real aggressively they might find a strong market. We tend to attribute diesel with trucks but you can't argue with 62 mpg especially in a luxury car.
CLP Automotive Tunes 2011 BMW X6(Nov 20, 2011)I don't know why I like the X6 but I do. Maybe because it's different. This package gives it a more aggressive look and I'm good with it. The rims on the other hand should be melt down and used to make ashtrays or something. Horrid.
LA 2011: Mastretta MXT Arrives in North America(Nov 18, 2011)Couple of years ago Top Gear tested a little two seat coupe from Smart. I don't remember what it was called but it looked kinda like this.
LA 2011: Mastretta MXT Arrives in North America(Nov 18, 2011)The V8's might make it too nose heavy. That's why Zora hated the big blocks in the Corvettes. The LT1 small blocks handled much better. Still, for the money I'd rather get tried and true. Where do you take this if it breaks? Risky going to Mexico.
LA 2011: Mastretta MXT Arrives in North America(Nov 18, 2011)With it's low weight you could even go with something like a Nissan 3.5l v6 with a turbo or small supercharger. Kind of like Lotus with the Elise. Then again, $60,000 could buy a used Z06 or M3 or any of a number of hot rides. Is this worth it?
LA 2011: Subaru BRZ Concept STI(Nov 17, 2011)The front wheel arch has a really nice curve from top to bottom bot the rear arch looks flat. Needs more curve in it. Otherwise car looks really good with exception of the stupid chrome fender vent.
Video: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Designed for Maximum Downforce(Nov 13, 2011)Is it better? By leaps and bounds. By the way, I put 100,000 on my 2002 Corvette and other than brake pads and clutch the only other thing to break was one headlight motor. I didn't baby it either, I ran the hell out of it.
Video: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Designed for Maximum Downforce(Nov 13, 2011)Scott, history doesn't mean a thing. Historically jaguars were constantly in the shop yet now they are some of the best cars out there. Ferrari and Lambo were constantly breaking yet the new ones are much more reliable. Is it perfect? No.
Video: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Designed for Maximum Downforce(Nov 13, 2011)exceptions the two Europeans will spend more time in the shop and the cost will be higher. To me, that's quality. Built to run like hell and survive. Even Clarkson said buy the ZR1 over the R8 and he hates Corvettes.
Video: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Designed for Maximum Downforce(Nov 13, 2011)Chevy is building cars with near or equal supercar performance at 1/3 or less the price. The difference other than price is that you can drive these Chevys every day of the year. Put 100,000 miles on both this Camaro and an R8 or 911 and with few
Awesome Street Art Cars(Nov 12, 2011)I think this paint job looks terrific on the M3 but not so much on the Aston. Maybe it's because in my mind the Aston is a beautiful and elegant car and this paint is explosive. Just doesn't fit.
Video: The Stig vs. Ken Block in a 2011 Ford Falcon FPV Down Under(Nov 10, 2011)I'm guessing Robert meant no OTHER top gear can match the original. I think that if any of the three hosts were to quit or have something happen to them the show would fail. It is the cohesion of the three that makes the show.
Corvette ZR59 Stands Out at SEMA(Nov 08, 2011)Really David? Fan boys? I'm so tired of hearing this idiotic comment regarding any fan of a specific car. For all of you third graders who like to use this description, please refrain from future comments until your old enough to pee standing up.
Corvette ZR59 Stands Out at SEMA(Nov 08, 2011)Yeah, back bumper just isn't quite right. It's just a little too much. Mildly modified front and rear bumpers would have been better.
