Actor and Car Guy Paul Walker Killed(Dec 01, 2013)Carbuzz, if you have any sense of decency you should ban Oso from the site. His level of stupidity should never be encouraged. He may think he's funny but in all aspects he's a juvenile still waiting for his testicles to drop.
To all the friends and family of Paul, all of us feel the loss and our hearts are with you. Most can only hope and strive to be the kind of person he was. R. I. P. Paul. You will be missed.
Ferrari Gets Wheels Jacked Overnight, Left on Blocks(Oct 30, 2013)@Taylor, the blocks are placed under chassis components or underbody. The rotors are off the ground. And even though the ceramic rotors are worth quite a bit I would think they would be harder to unload fast. When I lived I Germany a few years I remember guys going around in vans looking for broke down vehicles on the autobahn to strip. Pretty good at it too. Could strip a car in 15 minutes or so.
Edmunds Vies Stingray to Porsche Cayman S(Oct 04, 2013)I'm a dyed in the wool Corvette guy but I have to give credit to the Cayman. Porshe puts together excellent cars. They are exceptional handling cars that really utilize the power they have. That said, the price point is closer to that of a Z06/Z07 than that of the base car. With the $20+ grand price difference I can make the Vette my own and increase the performance/handling characteristics.
It's So On: Corvette Stingray vs. Mustang Shelby GT500(Sep 29, 2013)Yeah Daniel, who cares about a cars ability to turn. Every place you go must be straight there and back. I'm a Corvette guy but the Mustang isn't a bad car. If it were me though I'd get the Laguna Seca edition and bolt on a power adder. Even stock I believe it would give the Vette an all around better run.
MT Takes Ferrari F12, Corvette Stingray and Porsche 911 4S to Laguna Seca(Sep 27, 2013)I won't begin to compare a Vette with the F12 but you have to admit it's amazing that a car that is down 270 horses and over $300 grand cheaper came within 2/10 of a second per lap of the Ferrari. Obviously the money buys you exclusivity and a soundtrack that would wake the gods but kudos to both the Vette and the Porshe for making such impressive cars.
This Was Harley Earl's Personal Corvette(Sep 23, 2013)Poor wording Carbuzz. Harley Earl was most certainly one of the father's of the Corvette. He, along with Zara Arkus Duntov and Bill Mitchell are the ones that ensured the Corvettes existence. "So-called" doesn't even play here.
Turns out the C6 Corvette is also a Great Used Car(Sep 21, 2013)What are the options for someone that wants a performance car priced under $30,000? Honda's S2000 is there as is Porshe Boxster. Mustang, Camaro and Challenger fall into the price index but are not quite in the same league. I suppose an Audi TT or M3 can be considered but still not the same thing. I have seen a couple of Vipers and 911's close to $30,000 but older and generally a bit more used up. Honda and Porshe have the refinement but Corvette owns the performance.
Turns out the C6 Corvette is also a Great Used Car(Sep 21, 2013)@Noah, these are all things easily improved upon. I like the steering feel by the way. It's quite tactile and better tires enhance that. The aftermarket equipment for the Corvette is staggering. From builders that modify for you to parts you can put on yourself there are a tremendous amount of options. That may be the greatest attribute of a Corvette, you don't have to accept it the way it is. That and the fact that a guy that doesn't make $100,000 plus can own one.
Turns out the C6 Corvette is also a Great Used Car(Sep 20, 2013)I fully understand why many people and magazines pan the Corvette. Yes, the build quality is not on part with Porshe or Audi. The interior is low rent compared to others in the segment. It's crass, unkempt and uncivilized. And these are the very reasons I love it. No matter who you are it will put a smile on your face. It's a hooligan, you may talk bad about it but it makes you nervous when you have to face it. It is attainable vehicle nirvana.
GT-R Vs. GT-R is Surprisingly Uneven(Sep 20, 2013)Years ago Top Gear pitted the R33 against a McClaren F1. As expected the F1 destroyed it. I imagine the new GTR would prove to be a better match.
Tuning Battle: Honda Civic vs. Corvette ZR1 (Seriously)(Sep 16, 2013)I'm surprised that people are surprised at the results. The Honda 's power to weight ratio is better than the Corvette. Think back to the 60's when Shelby bolted a v-8 into an AC Bristol. You wouldn't want to drive it long distances but was brutal fast. Turn the equation around once. Take a stock S2000 and compare it to a mid 70's Vette. The Honda would wipe the floor with it. Now strip the Vette and install a built 383 stroker. Bye-bye S2000.
Chevrolet Angling For Younger Corvette Customers(Aug 24, 2013)Aaron, I think Eoin is correct. I love the Corvette but few will be cross shopping Ferrari and Corvette. With a $70 grand price tag vs. a $300 grand it's more about image than numbers. On the other hand, Bieber owns a Ferrari so I guess so much for that image. Makes it worse than a midlife crisis car!
Ni How Much? New Corvette Stingray Priced at $250k in China(Aug 16, 2013)Will, actually the study covered both brand and makes. That's why Prius made the list but Toyota didn't. Either way, the results would most likely differ depending on where you live. I'm also willing to bet that you see more Prius on the road than Corvettes on any given day.
Ni How Much? New Corvette Stingray Priced at $250k in China(Aug 16, 2013)I think the word you're looking for is "denial". The reality is that the Corvette is a LOT of car for the money. @Colby, I agree the name calling is juvenile and has no place here. As a fellow Vette fan it is on us to alter the stereotype not feed it.
France Moves Forward With Mercedes-Benz Ban Despite Loss In Court(Aug 03, 2013)@Adolph, if you can't grasp the irony then quite honestly you can not be the sharpest tool in the shed. Not to mention that you call a commenter that was supporting France and putting down a German auto manufacturer a nazi. You may want to educate yourself about WWII and the basic mindset back then. Just saying.
C7 Corvette Stingray is the Superman of Sports Cars(Aug 02, 2013)Maybe a setup, maybe not. Couple factors to consider. Front ends are designed to crumple while sides are designed to withstand impact. I would guess that there are several cross beams in the door to protect occupants and the outer panel is flexible. The combination of light weight, summer oriented tires and wet conditions most likely allowed the Vette to slide, reducing some of the force. I doubt it's staged but I wouldn't expect these results consistently.
L88 Corvette Still As Impressive (And Loud) As Ever(Jul 22, 2013)Made them for the same reason as the L88. Chevy was stepping into racing and was trying new combinations. Zora never liked the big block cars because it compromised handling. The ZL1 was aluminum heads and block where the L88 had a cast block and aluminum heads I believe. The lower hp rating was done to discourage regular people from buying it. The package also doubled the price.
L88 Corvette Still As Impressive (And Loud) As Ever(Jul 22, 2013)As impressive as the L88's were in 68-69 Chevrolet came out with the ZL1 Corvette as well. Only 3 were made, 1 being a test mule if I remember correctly. They were rated by the factory at 425 horse but in reality exceeded 600. Radio, air and heater were all deleted. Right up there with the C2 Grand Sports for awesome.
You Got Duped if You Just Bought a New GM Pickup(Jul 22, 2013)Honestly, most pickup drivers are fans of their respective manufacturer and usually wouldn't be caught dead in any of the others. A 700 lb difference will up your milage how much? Maybe 1mpg all things considered. Aerodynamics is more important than weight and dodge seems to have done more in that department.
Corvette Stingray Prepares For Battle in Europe(Jul 18, 2013)@Chris, your comment makes no sense. I doubt Colby has over $40 grand into his with all the mods. And again, you make my point. The Vette is affordable so that a hard working person can buy one. I dont see the logic about a car every 3 years because you can buy and sell Corvettes just like any other car. I really appreciate that you don't like Corvettes and will never buy one though. The reputation has been damaged enough already.
When Hunting Big Game, Drive This Thing(Jul 18, 2013)@Daniel, you have no problem judging those that would buy this so that means those that would buy it may judge you. If you don't like being commented about next time just say that you don't like the vehicle and give a reason why without insulting others.
Corvette Stingray Prepares For Battle in Europe(Jul 18, 2013)Always seems to be a lot of Colby bashers on these posts. Much like Colby I'm a Corvette guy. I've owned 3 ('78, '69 convertible, and a '02 targa) and have modified all of them in onr way or another. I'll admit that previous interiors lacked but performance is spot on or better than many foreign cars. Most importantly Colby is proof of what makes a Corvette so great. While you are yearning for that Porche, Ferrari or GTR, he's DRIVING his Vette.
Corvette Stingray is Green Friendly(ish)(Jul 09, 2013)@Scott, 2 reasons. First is CAFE regulations that dictate average fuel consumption of all cars produced by a manufacturer. Second is to ensure they can bypass any gas guzzler tax although I believe they are well below that currently. Preemptive move since standards are getting stricter over the next few years.
Hennessey to Transform McLaren MP4-12C into 800hp Monster(Feb 01, 2012)I've heard the same things. I also recall several of his Vipers catching fire during comparison tests for magazines and TV. Can't speak personally on whether or not all the claims are true. I guess when you push the envelope things happen.
Gordon Calls on NASCAR to maintain its Low-Tech Tradition(Jan 27, 2012)@Brandon, Jeff did drive an F1 car for a day. Not in a race but on a track. It was some deal where he and an F1 driver swapped seats for a day. Both did very well in the others car and both admitted how difficult it was.
The World Mourns as Another Pagani Zonda F Crashes in Hong Kong(Jan 26, 2012)Everyone is quick to blame the driver but he may be innocent. Considering the front and rear damage he may have been stopped, rear ended, and shoved into the vehicle in front. All I'm saying is that until facts are given curb the assumptions.
Video: Nissan Juke-R Showcases Supercar Killer Potential(Jan 22, 2012)That's because you don't have the means to purchase the others. It's what's referred to as "sour grapes". Most people, not all, but most will buy the best they can afford. A Casio watch keeps time as well as a Rolex but the Rolex says you've arrived.
GM Back On Top of the World, for Chevrolet a Record Year(Jan 21, 2012)Kevin, if your not going to purchase things from companies that have been helped by the government, be it ours or someone else's, you better thin down your shopping list tremendously. I'm not just talking about cars.
Lee Iacocca’s 1991 Ferrari F40 Up for Auction(Jan 17, 2012)They say dynamite is boring until the fuse is lit. The F40 is the same. Just a mound of plastic, metal, rubber and fluids.....until the key is cranked. Then it becomes a time machine. To fulfill it's destiny it must be driven.
Lee Iacocca’s 1991 Ferrari F40 Up for Auction(Jan 17, 2012)I like the Camaro and respect the GTR but neither of them will EVER represent what the F40 did to car culture. I'm not a huge Ferrari fan but it's the F40 and the Countach from Lambo that defined the start of the super/hypercar.
From too Rusty to be Saved to an Astonishing Mustang Mach 1(Dec 30, 2011)I'm not a big fan of Mustangs although there are a couple I do like. Regardless of my likes and dislikes, this is a very nice car. Kudos to both the owner and the shop for a job extremely well done. This isn't about money. It's love for a car.
Man Crashes 'Free' Lamborghini Murcielago After Only 6 Hours(Dec 22, 2011)Kevin, anyone that drives tractor trailer is referred to as a professional driver. Just like any career there are those that are more professional and then there are those that aren't. For what it's worth, it's not the easiest job out there.
Man Crashes 'Free' Lamborghini Murcielago After Only 6 Hours(Dec 22, 2011)Wrecked is a bit harsh. I read that it had same scratches on the front and rear bumpers and a bent wheel. Also, he was planning on selling it because he has bills and the insurance was $3500 for 6 months. He was giving people rides before selling it.
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 21, 2011)So the IPO goes down. Does that mean it won't go up again? What would the IPO be worth if the companies had bankrupted? I've heard people say that we should let them bankrupt. Someone would buy them. Who? The Chinese? No thanks.
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 20, 2011)demand for raw products. Then the dealerships would close across the country putting more people out of work. Then there is advertising, security, grounds workers ect.. It's like a pebble in a pond, the ripples are endless. LET IT GO!
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 20, 2011)proverbial soap boxes try this out once. Add up the unemployment cost of the 70% of the plant workers who wouldn't find a job after GM or Chrysler went bankrupt. Then add in there all the parts manufacturers that would lose work and then the reduced
Chevrolet Camaro GT3 Race Cars Prepare for FIA(Dec 20, 2011)I wish folks would just let go of all the bailout BS. All of them have taken government help at one time or another and for the most part paid it back. The management made some poor choices and they needed help. Since you want to get up on your
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)If anyone are tools it's you two. You are what's representative of what's wrong in society today. It's just a damn car. A collection of metal, plastic, rubber and fluids arranged a certain way. Maybe someday you'll know what it's like to really hurt.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)Respect seems to be a forgotten art these days. Would any of you approve of running a key up the side of this car? He deserves it, yet I would never approve. But at the very least he deserves a swift kick in the nuts. Then he'll qualify for the spot
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 04, 2011)Ryan, the price is paid by the person who is handicapped. Granted that many take advantage of this, having little true handicap. But then there are those who struggle at the least bit of movement. Some are elderly, others vets, many born with it.
Bugatti Owner Illegally Parks in Disabled Bay(Dec 03, 2011)What's died up your rear Anthony? Nobody but you said anything about the U.S. No matter where in the world it's done, to park in a handicap spot illegally makes you an ass. Oh, and by the way, there are more than a few London's in America.
725hp BMW X6 M Typhoon by G-Power(Dec 03, 2011)Don't care for the rims. They just look too thin and dainty. A vehicle as big and brutal as this one should have rims that remind you of a meat cleaver. Sharp but powerful.
UAE Flag Wrap for the Bugatti Veyron(Dec 01, 2011)Looks like it was made with leftover Lego bricks. Doing this to a Bugatti (albeit not my favorite car) is akin to painting a Hello Kitty purse on the Mona Lisa.
Video: Something this Ugly Can Only Be from Russia(Nov 27, 2011)Have to agree. We have our fair share of idiotic looking cars here in America. Besides, I imagine they fewer options over there as far as what to work with and aftermarket suppliers. Kudos to this guy for making the car his.
The 2011 LA Auto Show in Pictures(Nov 24, 2011)$60-65,000 for this. Waste of money. You can get much better, faster and comfortable cars for that. What do you do if it breaks? Take it to Mexico City and pray you get out of there before some drug lord cuts your head off? No thanks.
The 2011 LA Auto Show in Pictures(Nov 24, 2011)Surprised the electric cars passed. Considering how many actors feel they are making a political statement by driving electrics and hybrids you'd think this was a target show.
