Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Goes from 0-60 MPH in...(Oct 02, 2014)@Valoon Is that your dream car? A 4 door sedan? Lol. I'll take a Viper and continue to dominate everything south of $1 Mil on a track. Thanks. And if that doesn't work, I'll buy a $12,000 bike and dominate everything else as well. Lmao
Which Pontiac GTO is Better: 1969 Vs. 2006?(Sep 07, 2014)Considering that the new GTO looks like a Honda Civic, I'll take the old one. Even if it didn't look like my moms grocery getter, I still wouldn't take it. And there's only one GOAT in this comparison. The other once can GTFO.
Dodge Challenger Drag Pak is a Drag Racing Monster(Aug 29, 2014)V I'd say they're early. There is a new muscle car on the horizon, either a Cuda or a Challenger (2018). Also a Viper refresh is coming (2015). If anything, this is merely a tested for those future H.O. models.
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 15, 2014)I looked up car and driver's test numbers for those AMG's and they were all slower, in every test. As far as I can tell, between the AMGs, and the Porsche S, only the Porsche had one leg up (0-60 in 3.3). Let's wait for some comparisons eh?
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 15, 2014)@Judah: how relevant IS it though? How many times have you driven the 'Ring? Laguna Seca? Never?
And what's the % chance that you personally could reach the limit & capability of one of these cars on a track? .002%? it's just not relevant to us.
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 15, 2014)@pablo- nothing's wrong with that, just say you prefer it! But if you have to apply "track only" restrictions, I'm gonna address it lol
Like WHOM among us has the free range of a track, much less the skills, to actually push these cars on a track?
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 15, 2014)I'd rather shut people up 24/7 on the street, then arrange a special meeting once per year on one of those fake ass, fake condition, irrelevant and meaningless track days. Literally pointless "hey if we apply 75 constraints, my car would win" LOL!
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 15, 2014)Then I don't see what it has to do with anything. No lanes; banked corners; smooth as glass surface; railings; ambulance; no blind corners; no cars on the road; no road (track =/= road), etc...those are as fake a condition as you can create.
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 15, 2014)Do you live on a track or something? I don't see what tracks have to do with your real world car. I mean, if your car gets blown away on the street, and the only way it can compete is within a specific set of constraints within a track environment...
Dodge Unleashes Charger SRT Hellcat – World’s Fastest Sedan(Aug 14, 2014)I don't see why anyone would bash a 204MPH, 3.7-to-60mph, $60k sedan...you all know what this means. The envelope just got pushed; now we wait for competitor response.
This is the single most exciting and relevant thing Dodge had done since Viper.
Ducati Diavel Rips Stingray a New One at the Drag Strip(Aug 08, 2014)I mean some of these bikes have nearly half the power of "Supercars" but only weigh 400lbs. Lol tough to beat that. And for the $$ of a new Vette, you could get a bike that would spank everything on the road, and pickup a used Vette too. Win-Win
Ducati Diavel Rips Stingray a New One at the Drag Strip(Aug 08, 2014)Even at the elite driver level, bikes still dominate. You can find Laguna Seca laptimes for Vettes and Vipers driven by current pros, in the 1:33:xx's, but then these same bikes also hit the 1:24:xx's when ridden by pros.
Ducati Diavel Rips Stingray a New One at the Drag Strip(Aug 08, 2014)@Braxton: even on a roadcourse, they still lose. The margin of loss may be less, but a loss nonetheless. MT tested a Stingray at Laguna Seca (1:38:28), F12 (1:38:04), and 911 4S (1:39:00). Cycleworld tested a Ducati 1198 (1:33:07), & s100rr (1:33:09)
1,400-HP, 290-MPH Hennessey Venom F5 Breaks Cover(Aug 04, 2014)V no, the buggerati has a replacement coming in like 2016/2017 so I doubt they're looking to shell out that high dollar Veyron-money only to be the "slower and older" kid on the block.
BMW F10 M5 Driver Loses Control, Flips the Car(Jul 30, 2014)Sure, there could be some highly skilled homeless individuals, but by far, there are many more skilled and rich drivers out there. You gotta pay for that experience & skill somehow, whether through training, renting, ownership, or whatever. Takes $$
BMW F10 M5 Driver Loses Control, Flips the Car(Jul 30, 2014)@Melek
"Money does not equate to skill"
It sure as hell is highly correlated with it. First you have to have the resources to even utilize or own an asset (say a race car) and secondly, you have to have the resources to train.
The Top 10 Cars for First Time Luxury Buyers(Jul 28, 2014)If it's platform sharing or badge engineering, it's not luxury. Pretty sure that's Acura, infinity, and maybe caddy. Sorry, if the same car is basically available w/ different name, for thousands less, it's not luxury. Lux doesn't have to cheat
The Dodge SRT Viper Won't be Offered with the Hellcat V8(Jul 28, 2014)And let's be honest, the Viper is more of a track car than the challenger, and it's LX platform (Chrysler's sedan platform). Hey the Chally will dominate the strip and street, while the Viper dominates the track. Specialization: the key to success.
The Neon SRT-4 Was Both Angry and Got No Respect(Jul 22, 2014)@Chris- does it always take you this many attempts to insult someone? Lol
B18 Type R's were running 0-60's at around 6.8 seconds lol. Even the
'03 SRT 4s were rated at 5.5..you've either bad memory, your friend sucked at driving, or you're fibbing
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)It's a measure of a capability, but not a realistic capability. 99% or more of all "races" are straight line; if you have free access to a track, at any given time/day, I envy you. The rest of us don't, so those tests are nearly meaningless.
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)I prefer the measure that best reflects the most common usage (of the car).
Tests on ovals, road course, etc, they no meaning. Their glassy surfaces, with bankings, no lanes, fenced property, ambulances- this is nothing real. It does not translate.
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)@woodman: that's cool. My point is that when it comes to evaluating performance, the evaluation should be realistic. While a road course or track is a great measure, it is not an accurate representation of a road legal car's ability or purpose.
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)I'd rather walk outside my front door, fire up a beast of a car, knowing full well that short of any designated race track, my road legal car would dominate (most) anything it faces...hell yes! Grocery run + potential pink slip win? Hah nothin better
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)But yes, to each his own. Personally I prefer efficiency of use. If one must fly across the Atlantic in order to prove his/her car is "faster" yet it loses on other types tracks, styles, or applications- it doesn't really matter, does it?
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)Further, I don't know what SRT you're talking about, as I identified the Hellcat in my post. Maybe you've heard of it? 10-second car, on street legal radials? Big difference between 12-second and 10-second. And it's not limited to road courses lmao
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)And it still leads me to question: what "road course" do you have access to? Lol 99% of all races are drag races, due to "barriers-to-access" so "road course" is literally irrelevant. No one does it, and frankly, it doesn't matter.
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)"A road course is a track" - nope. A track is always designated as a track, yet normal roads can become a road course.
Where I live, they literally shut down streets, and make a "road course." You can stand on sidewalks, and watch it happen.
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)Ie no one races like that. Ok, well maybe like 0.005% of the population, but the rest just do stoplight-to-stoplight, or simple 1/4 mile runs.
Literally no one does "road course" so it's irrelevant but if you have free access to one, 24/7 that's awesome.
Dodge Releases Pricing for the 2015 Challenger(Jul 17, 2014)@woodman
So how does that work? You call the mayor of your town, they close off all the streets, and you get a closed circuit any given day/time? What if it's a weekend or holiday? Do they supply the ambulance? This just doesn't sound realistic.
Pallet Skating is Safe Only Until the Tram Kills You(Jul 11, 2014)Uhmm...I wear headphones on my motorcycle and can hear just about everything, including people talking to me. Last time I checked, a person's voice is no where near as loud as a fucking tram. Trust me, you'd hear it. Stupid theory
In Appreciation of the Infinitely Cool Rat Rod(Jul 07, 2014)I'd like to know how many donor cars your average restoration mechanic goes through, just to build one single car. So wasteful. I have mad respect for rat rods- they're the creative "recyclers" of the automotive community. And they fabricate lots...
In Appreciation of the Infinitely Cool Rat Rod(Jul 07, 2014)Those OEM Restores are what creates the rat roads. They buy up scores of cars, chassis, motors, parts, etc... Looking for that "perfect piece" and then leave a barren wasteland of mismatched parts.
In Appreciation of the Infinitely Cool Rat Rod(Jul 07, 2014)This is the dumbest fucking debate. Someone here thinks that rat rods "harm the automotive community" because they use up all the original parts, making it difficult for the for the OEM Restore crowd to do their restore?
Man Instantly Regrets His Road Rage Decision(Jul 01, 2014)Looked like an embroidered badge or emblem on the front of the big guy's shirt..white lettering across the back. If I didn't know any better, I'd think they picked a fight with law enforcement (on his way to the gym?). Couldn't tell on this iphone
SSC Tuatara Production May Finally Get Underway(Jun 17, 2014)They better build this ASAP, because it's on the fast track to looking out dated. Already reminds me of that Pontiac Banshee concept from the 80's, or some other pre-future rendering
The New Mustang is a Bit Chubbier Than We Thought(Jun 15, 2014)The result? A less powerful 600CC bike, so light, that it STOMPED it's competition....and prompted major diets at the other makers, in order to be competitive again.
Ford's still the lightest, but I wonder for how long...
The New Mustang is a Bit Chubbier Than We Thought(Jun 15, 2014)A couple of years ago, the big 4 motorcycle (yam, suzu, kawi, Toyota) went through a competition like this. They were in a habit of "more power, same weight" in the 600CC class. Then Toyota up and produced "same power, much less weight."
