Lincoln Desperately Needs a Rear-Wheel-Drive Sedan(Apr 14, 2014)It's called running a business, something every company does. It's the reason the mini shares a Renault engine and every German sedan has a ZF 8 speed. Or why Audi and VW Share parts or why the new 1 series rides on the MINI platform.
Acura's Best Hope is the New NSX(Feb 02, 2014)Boldcars: why would it need a big grill in the front? The engine is in the middle. I understand maybe for cooling purposes, but they could easily use an angled radiator and scoop air from underneath
GM to Buy Tesla in 2014?(Jan 01, 2014)Look, you can circle jerk about Saab all you like, but they went bankrupt before GM got involved and then refused to change to stay in the black. And company that does that doesn't deserve to stick around.
GM to Buy Tesla in 2014?(Dec 31, 2013)To the person that said "GM ruined Saab": No. Saab ruined themselves with their complete inability to stay within a budget. It's their own fault that they made no money, especially after the GM takeover when they ignored GM's suggestions.
Chevy Volt Recharging for 2016(Dec 17, 2013)The reason they all look similar to the Prius is that it's a very aerodynamic shape that's also cheap to build. Sure there are more aerodynamic cars but they are more expensive.
Not to say the Prius shape doesn't suck. Because it does.
Ford SVT Chief: Ring Times Are Misleading(Nov 29, 2013)@marcus it's like they aren't even doing that for 2015... Oh wait. They are. As long as ford doesn't totally miss the mark the "solid rear axel joke" will finally be a thing of the past. (Not saying sra's are good or anything, justthatfordknowsitsucks
2015 Mazda MX-5 Will Be Feather Light(Nov 22, 2013)240 isn't a scary amount or anything, but I think Mazda would do that because of the MX5's design philosophy. It's not too much power at all, but would be more than they want for a performance-balanced car, rather than a missile car
Honda FCEV Concept Charges in 3 Minutes(Nov 21, 2013)Oh my god for fucks sake it is not using nuclear fusion. That's what a hydrogen bomb uses. I'm not a huge fan of hydrogen power but for gods sake...
V6 Power Coming for the Dodge Dart?(Nov 19, 2013)For shit's sake, it will never be RWD. Having RWD in a car this size at that price ruins interior space and low production costs, to to mention an entire re-refiner of the car from the ground up. It's not even a bad fwd car anyways
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars are 'So Bullshit' Proclaims Elon Musk(Oct 23, 2013)Jet fuel is highly controlled and burned under entirely different circumstances. In jets they can control it because jets are on scheduled flights only. It's also, surprise, a liquid at room temp. Hydrogen is an entirely different beast
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars are 'So Bullshit' Proclaims Elon Musk(Oct 23, 2013)Dangerous fuels. Methanol? Sure that's flammable, but look at how many top fuel cars there are. It's also a liquid at room temp and hydrogen is a gas. The small number means that they can safely store it because they can afford it. Jet fuel?
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars are 'So Bullshit' Proclaims Elon Musk(Oct 23, 2013)With just about anything. And it's not "zero emissions", it's a ton of water vapor which does produce a greenhouse gas effect. If all cars ran on hydrogen there would be a massive amount of water vapor buildup.
And then there are you examples of
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars are 'So Bullshit' Proclaims Elon Musk(Oct 23, 2013)Gary: no one has successfully made hydrogen piston engines that really work in the real world, so no, no V12s. Furthermore, I doubt you'll see hydrogen powered cars because of how hard it is to separate pure hydrogen. It may be abundant but it reacts
Caterham-Alpine Sports Cars Coming in 2016(Oct 02, 2013)Seriously Cody. The LS7 is great, but why the fuck would Renault or Caterham use it? And maybe, just maybe, they don't want a missile, they want a well balanced sports car that doesn't have more power than it can handle.
High Performance VW Beetle R in the Works(Oct 02, 2013)Gary: it's pretty much just the new ford ST, the Golf GTi and R. But why would I drive a hot hatch when I can afford the gas for an actual sportscar? Don't me wrong, I love hot hatches, but I'm not really disappointed with the lack of them.
Update: Video of NY Aventador Getting Ripped in Half(Sep 24, 2013)The pagani Huayra and the Veyron employ similar separable sub frames because it diss après the energy. It is a very good way to dissipate energy in a side impact when the car is potentially doing 200mph.
Update: Video of NY Aventador Getting Ripped in Half(Sep 24, 2013)Gary, I guess you're trying to make fun of Lamborghini based on your other comments. It is, actually, quality engineering. It keeps the monocoque and driver from taking the full brunt of the hit, rather than crumpling in like a normal car would.
Update: Video of NY Aventador Getting Ripped in Half(Sep 24, 2013)Gary, you're an idiot. The Aventador is designed such that in an impact like this the rear subframe separates from the monocoque to dissipate impact energy. Most modern super cars with monocoques are designed this way.
GM Wants Cadillac to Take on Tesla(Sep 22, 2013)If you've read up on tesla a future plans, they want to make a 30k EV next. So it's getting into tesla a prospective market before they can get there
US Government Wants to Get Rid of Fisker Once and For All(Sep 17, 2013)Colby, it was a "green" company. Using LS engines would have been the exact opposite of the point of the company. Plus, as fabulous as the LS engines are, it's a little dull for every boutique company ever to use them...
