Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)Yeah the interior pieces are 100% Jaguar, and they followed the Saab theory. "GM makes a shitty nav system, we'll put in our own."
Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)A4 and A6 use the same platform, which is shared with the Passat. A6 in basic engineering is a long wheel base A4.
Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)They improved a thousand fold under Ford. I remember reading an article with a Ford engineer and he relayed that buying Jaguar was a mistake. The old XJ's prior to Ford would average more than two inch gaps in sheet metal.
Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)Or it could be that Jaguar has always been known for gremlins in their cars and that Ford actually corrected a lot of their problems.
Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)It was known as the Suzuki Vitara in the US as well, the Vitara is still going strong on GM's Theta architecture used on the Equinox and Terrain.
Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)Tom, I'm in the market for one an the one's selling for 6,000 are dogs. I'm looking for an easy to work on AWD car, and once people realize its a 3.0 Duratec they go, oh yeah we can totally work on that.
Biggest Automotive Missteps: Jaguar X-Type(Jul 19, 2012)The Catera is the original attempt at bringing the Commodore to the states. Had GM done it properly everyone would be hailing the Catera as much as people hail the Pontiac G8.
Chris Harris takes Camaro ZL1 and Mustang GT500 to NYC(Jul 06, 2012)These are pony cars, the Camaro was called the Hugger back in the day. Do you even know why? Because it hugged the road. For the time the Camaro was possibly the best handling car you could get stock from a factory.
Opel Readying Updated Insignia(Jul 05, 2012)Thatll be a quick update on the Regal of they do. Hopefully they can see the benefit of bringing the wagon over too.
And the Most American-Made Car for 2012 is... (Jul 04, 2012)Well if we count Canada as American, cause that is where the Camaro is assembled. If we're counting Camry CarBuzz we should be excluding the Camaro.
From one of the biggest Camaro fans on the planet.
And the Most American-Made Car for 2012 is... (Jul 04, 2012)Brady, Toyota doesn't even employ half the people in the United States than GM or Ford. Go ahead and look into it, manufacturing excludes the executives and R&D teams. All of which are in Japan for Toyota.
And the Most American-Made Car for 2012 is... (Jul 04, 2012)While It may be mostly made in America, Car and Driver did a feature a year or do ago and I think the Malibu and Impala were pretty high on that list too. Most car Wikipedia pages will tell you where final assembly of the vehicle is also.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Nissan Skyline GT-R(Jul 02, 2012)Strange every R/T I have seen didn't have TT, they must have been badge racers. I didn't realize the Stealth got all the good stuff, good for Dodge.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Nissan Skyline GT-R(Jul 01, 2012)Well they didn't include a pic of the V35 Skyline. Guess they didn't want to give away that it is just badged as an Infiniti here.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Nissan Skyline GT-R(Jul 01, 2012)The Stealth was sold as a Dodge and it was a dog because it never got the 3000GT's turbo engine. All it ever had was the NA 6. The 3000GT VR4 was AWD and had a 310 HP (if I recall correctly) TT 6.
McLaren Announce MP4-12C Spider(Jul 01, 2012)Actually it is faster in every regard according to the mags, so you're right it's no match. It's simply superior.
McLaren Announce MP4-12C Spider(Jun 29, 2012)I think is just a teaser for the reveal of the convertible July 3rd. They announced a long time ago this car was coming.
SRT Barracuda, Ram Truck and Small Roadster to join new Viper?(Jun 29, 2012)I know that's why I don't think SRT will be an exclusive car company. I think they will have two maybe three exclusive niche vehicles at most, and still tune other Chrysler Corporations vehicles.
2015 Mustang’s Platform Could be Basis for New Lincoln Sedan(Jun 28, 2012)The Camaro and Mustang have grown quite a but, but they are still smaller than 90% of the muscle cars from the era. The Challenger has graduated to full muscle car status though from size. And the next gens will smaller than the current models.
2015 Mustang’s Platform Could be Basis for New Lincoln Sedan(Jun 28, 2012)Mustangs and Camaros were never muscle cars, they are pony cars. They are the inspiration for any car manufacturer who has put their biggest horsepower engine into their smallest best handling car.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Mazda RX-7(Jun 27, 2012)They've done that one a couple of times pretty sure the Miata was there for one of them, since that is what that car is known for. Will research and come back and clear it all up.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Mazda RX-7(Jun 27, 2012)It almost looks like the bumper or hood was meant for another car. I think the good may actually be the problem, it doesn't flow with the car well.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Mazda RX-7(Jun 27, 2012)RX-8 lacks power but I think it was Car and Driver that tested best handling cars. The RX-8 came in first if I recall correctly and it was up against the Mustang, Cayman, Corvette, Evo, STi, etc. etc. etc. You point it goes end of story.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Mazda RX-7(Jun 27, 2012)Everyone else has said my piece and at least I finally put a smiley on it to indicate sarcasm by this point. I know I've said it a thousand times. :)
Get Ready: Lamborghini Future Lineup Possibilities(Jun 27, 2012)I could see your argument if this was a similar execution of the Taurus and MKS (Taurus with more Chrome), but it most certainly isn't. You won't be able to swap fenders or doors on this like you can those cars.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Mazda RX-7(Jun 27, 2012)RX-8 best handling car, tuned they can be beasts. Lot of people have compared their handling to a Miata.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Mazda RX-7(Jun 27, 2012)RX-7 all the way, lighter and I can't bring myself to own a Toyota. Blandest manufacturer of cars and despite the Supra their cars are just cheap. I owned an 05 Camry and I liked my 04 Alero better.
2015 Mustang’s Platform Could be Basis for New Lincoln Sedan(Jun 27, 2012)@Jackson, with all the driving aids an traction control systems in place RED cars are just as effective in winter environments. That stereotype comes from RWD cars putting more than 375 lbs of torque on the rear wheels back in the sixties.
2015 Mustang’s Platform Could be Basis for New Lincoln Sedan(Jun 27, 2012)Actually the suspension does well enough for the track it just isn't geared for a track. Mustangs are actually raced at tracks quite often and hold their own with cars with "superior" suspension. IRS and solid axle are just different suspensions.
Japanese Tuner Icons: Nissan 240SX(Jun 26, 2012)This is what every ricer (used loosely) wants, but usually funds or interest run out before they can get to this point. This is a nice car.
2014 BMW M3 to Pack 480hp Inline-Six(Jun 21, 2012)@Clint you are correct, however turbos don't actually make a car any more efficient than a supercharger does either. All the extra air requires more fuel to be as efficient as it can be which is why most turbo fours get the same mileage as V6's.
Toyota Launches Aero Package for GT86 Sports Coupe in Australia(Jun 21, 2012)I'm not trying to defend anything I'm trying to educate you on how a wing or spoiler functions. A wing that creates downforce does it by putting that air on the rear of the car and will 100% of the time increase the CD.
Toyota Launches Aero Package for GT86 Sports Coupe in Australia(Jun 20, 2012)A spoiler that increases downforce on the rear wheels also increases drag. This kit lowers drag, so it does not in fact increase down force on the rear wheels, therefore not functional. End of story.
Toyota Launches Aero Package for GT86 Sports Coupe in Australia(Jun 20, 2012)In order to create downforce, a wing must be angled upward to catch the air flowing across the body to literally push the air down onto the car. A spoiler like this one that hits the air nearly straight on spoils the air around the car and can
Aston Martin Unveils the AM310 Vanquish(Jun 19, 2012)The only conclusion that I can draw from a 2+0 is that there is space behind the rear seats, whereas in a standard two seater there isn't. Best example I can think of is a Mustang or Camaro with the rear seats removed.
Aston Martin Unveils the AM310 Vanquish(Jun 19, 2012)Regardless of what it replaces "officially", there will not be a One-77 again, which pits this against the F12 Berlinetta and by default the Aventador.
Aston Martin Unveils the AM310 Vanquish(Jun 19, 2012)First page said it is the new flagship for Aston Martin, because the One-77 was a limited production car and is now sold out.
Aston Martin Unveils the AM310 Vanquish(Jun 19, 2012)But Aston does claim to be a direct competitor with Ferrari, and their GT car (Berlinetta) makes 700 ponies. If they had just used the One-77 motor they could back up that claim.
2015 Mustang Rumor of the Week: A 330hp Four-Pot in Place of a V6?(Jun 17, 2012)Everybody doesn't understand that the reason the Mustang will never compete with the Vette or Viper is because it has too many seats. HP and muscle car status aside a 2+2 grand touring (that's GT) coupe will never compete with a 2 seat sports car.
Epic B-List Celebrity Car Crashes(Jun 17, 2012)Because someone was severely hurt in this one, that's why it is no linger comical. If you're going to call us hypocrites, don't turn around and make our argument for us in the same breath.
