Mustang Diesel, Electric, Hybrid Possible(11 hours ago)I'm beginning to hate Ford. Never thought I'd ever think that. Mustang was my father's favorite car. I bought one just like his because of how great his was to drive. This makes me sick. If Ford wants to make some kind of performance car with hybrids and diesels for the Europeans more power to them. Just leave Mustang the hell alone.
Mustang Diesel, Electric, Hybrid Possible(11 hours ago)"Things" don't HAVE to change. They certainly don't have to change for the worse because some commie tree-hugging nutcases have decided to destroy the world as we know it and make us slaves to their fear and foolishness. LEAVE MY CARS ALONE! Dang! Can't a man have anything anymore?
Ford Mustang's New Benchmarks: M3 and 911(15 hours ago)Kind of hard for Ford to have benchmarked the M4 during development of the new Mustang since the M4 hadn't been released yet. Btw, all you Eurocar fanboys. YOUR CARS ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Not worth the price no matter your strange notions that high end American iron is cheap and cheaply made. American cars are more realistically priced but they also cost too damned much!
Pagani Zonda Vs. Ford GT 720 Mirage on a Runway(Dec 08, 2013)Sigh. There was definitely a time Ford could build outrageously phenomenal cars. Now they're too busy becoming international/European and politically correct. This company helped Carrol Shelby embarrass Enzo Ferrari with the Cobra. Then built the original GT40 to further put the screws to Enzo at LeMans and then birthed the GT. Now they make mostly fwd skateboard crap.
AMG Vision Gran Turismo May Yet Become A Reality(Dec 06, 2013)Why would Merc get upset? Seems this fellow is pursuing a time honored profession of coach building. He'll be using a genuine Mercedes chassis and power plant, to go along with a genuine Mercedes body design. It's been done before by some of the all-time great names in auto manufacturing.
2015 Corvette Z06 Teased Ahead of Detroit Debut(Dec 05, 2013)@Patrick I suspect you have it right. 600+ hp off the 7.0 na small block. GM can do this easily. The problem is CAFE. If GM does this I doubt they'll be able to keep the present relative good mpg Vettes have enjoyed for the past 20 yrs. That means not only a guzzler tax hit but having to make up that loss elsewhere in GM's lineup. Maybe that's why Caddy is building that $75,000 hybrid skateboard abomination.
Saleen Set to Build an Electric Car(Dec 04, 2013)There would be ZERO market for electric cars without government favoritism/cronyism/intervention. There's an worldwide oil glut and the only thing that is propping up the price of Brent crude are governments representing OPEC. So now Saleen has drunk the Kool-aid too? Or just sold out?
2015 Mustang Has Been Leaked(Dec 04, 2013)What's this fascination with the 'push to start' button? If you insist on that inanity why not instead go with something useful like remote starting? All this electronic foolishness just causes cars to cost more, be more prone to breakdown and leaves owners open to thuggery from both crooks and government types. Check that: government types ARE crooks for the most part.
2015 Mustang Has Been Leaked(Dec 04, 2013)@Taylor because Ford could care less about America or American tastes. They long ago declared their intention to internationalize. Ford doesn't see itself as an American company. In fact from some of it's corporate decisions and advertising (outside the truck adverts) I get the impression Ford is embarrassed by America and Americans. Quite odd I think but it's still a private company.
Nothing Like Going for a Country Drive in a Huayra(Dec 03, 2013)No car is worth $1 million. Not even this one which probably has the industry beat hands down to intricate (and expensive) visual and tactile detailing. I mean, the thing is a masterwork. Not a million bucks worth though. But then again it IS worth it to anyone crazy enough to pay. Wish I was that crazy.
Nissan Being Sued Over Bladeglider Design(Dec 02, 2013)@Terrence forget the body shell. The chassis design is a match. You're nuts if you think this isn't a rip-off of a unique design. There's no comparison between the DeltaWing and anything else that was ever thought possible for the road going car.... until Panoz chief designer Bowlby penned a clone for Nissan.
Nissan Being Sued Over Bladeglider Design(Dec 02, 2013)The DeltaWing's shape is a byproduct of it's inherent extreme arrow shape given that the two front.wheels are so close together. Nobody thought this car would be able to safely turn at high speeds. Everybody but Panoz was wrong. It looks weird but it works amazing.
Nissan Being Sued Over Bladeglider Design(Dec 02, 2013)@Caio have you ever Deen the design schematics for the DeltaWing? It truly is a revolutionary design. So much so that Panoz was unable to get backing from any of the major car manufacturers to back him. Only Nissan made a limited offer to supply him an engine for a try at Le Mans.
Nissan Being Sued Over Bladeglider Design(Dec 02, 2013)Easy win for Panoz in court. This will get settled outside the courts. Nissan providing engines for the DeltaWing project doesn't entitle them to Panoz chassis design patents. That is unless Ben Bowlby is somehow laying claim to that design. I'm certain he'll be named in the suit also. Being chief designer at GM doesn't get you patent rights for C7 chassis.
Actor and Car Guy Paul Walker Killed(Dec 02, 2013)His life may have been short but it certainly was full. I like to think this man died happy. May we all do as well. Zooming on heaven's road hard on the throttle... free.
Buick Wants More GS Models But No Grand National?(Nov 30, 2013)@daveyae I'm inclined to agree since the GNX was built on a genuine musclecar platform. People often incorrectly refer to pony cars like the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, Baracuda, AMX and the like as musclecars. Muscle cars were mid size to large platform coupes like Chevelle, Road Runner, Torino etc.
Buick Wants More GS Models But No Grand National?(Nov 30, 2013)William is spot on. However the GNX wasn't a very powerful engine compared to the beasts the Big 3 built before the Arab oil embargo and only came into being as an effort to stave off the performance crippling emissions regs of the mid to late 1970s and beyond.
Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Annihilates the Autobahn(Nov 30, 2013)This has got to be the hottest GT Ferrari ever produced. Why is it these hyper expensive cars so unreliable and expensive to maintain? Bet you Hyundai could teach Ferrari a thing or three about reliability.
Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Annihilates the Autobahn(Nov 30, 2013)$350,000 base price. 730 hp. Sill lost to the C7 in Road & Track magazine Performance Car of the Year showdown. Ouch! Bet that didn't go over well in Maranelo. Worse still the F12 broke down during the competition.
Is the Cadillac Elmiraj Coupe Back On?(Nov 29, 2013)This Caddy needs the yo-yo string cut. Not a hard decision to make and the notion that GM doesn't have enough designers to make it is ludicrous. We have the running car before our eyes.
Is the Cadillac Elmiraj Coupe Back On?(Nov 29, 2013)50s Mercedes gullwing and beautiful doesn't belong in the same sentence. Those others mentioned top 10 all-time? Maybe the Pagani.... frame of reference is lacking young man.
Happy Thanksgiving From the Crew at CarBuzz(Nov 28, 2013)Why the white southerner stereotype? You'll find just as many black, Asian, hispanic gun wielding urban dwellers as you will like this. And they're not shooting at deer either.
Happy Thanksgiving From the Crew at CarBuzz(Nov 28, 2013)Oklahoma is almost free as my native Texas. Can you imagine this in Frisco, Chicago or New York city? People in Boston, London and Paris would have a heart-a-stroke! In Texas this would barely get a second look.
New Saleen Supercar Will Be the S8(Nov 28, 2013)About time! When is some car mag going to do a showdown comparo of all the American supercar/hypercars currently in production against the rest of the world's best offerings?
2014 Hyundai Genesis Has Arrived(Nov 27, 2013)Very well done. Keep the RWD faith. 425 hp V8. Excellent. Keep improving quality/reliability/driver pleasure while keeping the price in check. Bravo! The Europeans are squirming even as the Koreans' market share steadily grows. Competition is good for consumers.
2014 Hyundai Genesis Has Arrived(Nov 27, 2013)I love what Hyundai and Kia are doing. Both brands have some very stylish, high quality and reliable offerings. I like this new look on the Genesis. I hope it looks as good in person.
2014 Hyundai Genesis Has Arrived(Nov 27, 2013)Predictable reaction to anything the South Koreans do. Universal (OK nearly so) belittling and hateration. Same thing when the Corvette C7 was announced but 99% of the haters have done a 180 and love that car.
SRT Succumbs to 2014 Viper TA Demand, Will Make 159 Units(Nov 26, 2013)Viper vs Corvette isn't a fair fight... for Viper. GM has love and big plans for Corvette. Fiat seems to be less than enthusiastic about SRT let alone Viper. They care more about the 4C... which won't sell here. Too small and under powered and WAY too expensive.
Cadillac ATS Coupe is Coming to Detroit(Nov 26, 2013)BMW 3 series coupes have always been good looking cars. I've never cared for the sedan versions. The cars are TOO SMALL! What's the obsession with skateboards? The ATS is a good looking sedan but it's too damned little. If your going to ny small it better have 2 doors.
Cadillac ATS Coupe is Coming to Detroit(Nov 26, 2013)Cadillac is historically famous for large coupes. The CTS coupe isn't a large car in comparison to some of the great cars of the marque like the 1959 Eldorado Biarritz. I loved the CTS V coupe's in your face design. That car is a beast. I want a used one.
Turbocharged Camaro? It Ain't Happening Soon(Nov 24, 2013)Just because "times change" doesn't mean they are for the good or that you have accept a load of crap. Fight the HELL back! In this case call/write Ford/GM/Fiat and tell them exactly what you think of these trial balloons.
G63 AMG 6x6: A Six-Wheeled Badass German(Nov 23, 2013)@Nate I've driven Army 2 1/2 ton trucks and no they can't do what this beast is doing. On the other hand the deuce can definitely haul more and is more reliable. Completely different missions. The G-wagen is an expensive toy. I like toys.
Hennessey 12C Battles Stock 12C(Nov 23, 2013)Considering what a buyer has to shell out for the stock 12C why doesn't it sound at least as good as the Hennessey modified version? it can't be that difficult can it?
Ram 1500 V6 Diesel Gets 28 MPG(Nov 23, 2013)GM's V-8 gets better fuel milage than Ford's Eco-boost . This diesel isn't much better than that. Considering the much higher cost of diesel fuel over gasoline I don't see the cost savings, especially if the diesel engines cost significantly more.
GT-R Nismo Destroys the Nurburgring(Nov 21, 2013)That is one fast tank! I love the new look. Just too much geewhizbangery going on for me. Same thing with the P1, 918 and La Ferrari. Too many computers. Too little driver intimacy. Some level of high tech is desirable even necessary given the speeds, g-forces now attain. And of course, those safety/emissions laws. But something is being lost in the driver translation.
SRT's Viper GTS Anodized Carbon Edition(Nov 21, 2013)I hate to admit this but the Viper has had it's reputation ripped to shreds lately. So much so Road & Track left it off it's 13 car Performance Car Of The Year competition in favor of a Ford Fiesta ST and a Mini JCW GP! How the mighty have fallen.
Next-Gen NSX Powertrain Details Revealed(Nov 21, 2013)So the NSX is thought of as a cult car because of it's... what? The car didn't sell very well which is why Honda stopped making them. I personally liked the original NSX because of it's potential if development continued. Unfortunately Honda couldn't make enough money off them to justify R&D.
This is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado(Nov 21, 2013)Not sure why GM is doing this. There wasn't much of a market here in the US for these mini/mid size trucks which is why all the US manufacturers abandoned them, and the Japanese couldn't sell them either. Perhaps GM means to export them primarily?
Mazda to Finally Part with the Rotary?(Nov 19, 2013)Rotary's truest failure is very little torque throughout its rev range. At least it was/is for many American tastes. Emissions standards have also stifled development. Adding hybridization might increase fuel mileage and mitigate inherent torque limitations but then you lose the simplicity, lightness and relative low cost to purchase some people loved about the Rx7. With today's regulation environment what is the business case for a rotary?
2015 Mustang Gets a 3D Rendering(Nov 19, 2013)Ford didn't authorize this so it makes no sense getting mad at them for it. However I'm sure they're happy people are talking/thinking about it just as the lead up was for the C7 debut. I wish that 4cyl rumor wasn't true though.
Jeep Willys Wheel Edition is Ready for War(Nov 19, 2013)I like Jeep but... not this one. I need the LWB so me and my boys can ride out to our remote fishing/hunting spots together. The short wheel base Jeeps give me the willies. I rolled the first one I ever drove while on military maneuvers in Hohenfels, Germany back in 1975. I know they're (consumer Jeeps) lots more stable today but still...
Jeep Willys Wheel Edition is Ready for War(Nov 19, 2013)Jeep isn't a Dodge. Jeep is it's own brand manufactured by Chrysler which is now a subsidiary of and owned by Fiat. Real Jeeps have never been crap. They remain the most popular vehicle in their niche segment in America. NOBODY is close to it in sales. If I could afford a toy right now it would be a custom Rubicon minus all the electronic crap the Feds insists on these days.
Cop Opens Fire at Minivan Full of Kids(Nov 18, 2013)Cops have a tough job but these fools make good cops look very bad. There was no need to escalate the situation. Especially over a traffic violation. These guys just made millionaires out of everyone in the vehicle. And it is on their own video. Smh.
Cop Opens Fire at Minivan Full of Kids(Nov 18, 2013)There's a time to pull out your gun as a police officer or even as a private citizen to protect life, limb and property. This wasn't one of those times. I am a trained marksman and know this movie crap of discharging your weapon at a moving vehicle with passengers is just dumb. Worse: homicidal.
First Look at Lykan Hypersport on the Move(Nov 18, 2013)Not too shabby. The body is a tad busy but it isn't ugly by any stretch. Looks kind of futuristic just for the heck of it though not sure if all those lines serve an aerodynamic purpose. They REALLY need to fix the exhaust note. 6cyl doesn't equate to supercar much less hypercar. $3.4 million? Not even if I was Bill Gates rich.
Mercedes AMG Unveils a Vision to Behold(Nov 17, 2013)Mercedes doesn't have the nerve to build this car. Or even one similar. I like that it's masculine AND sizeable. It isn't stuffy like most of Mercedes' current designs.
The Exige S is the Best Hope for Lotus(Nov 17, 2013)Too small for me. I don't like driving with my head to the headliner, my knees to my chin and my ass on the floor. Skateboards are fine for some. Not for me. Don't get me wrong. I love sport and GT cars as much as the next guy but clown cars aren't my cup of tea.
Murica's Best: SRT Viper vs. Z06 and GT500(Nov 17, 2013)"... it's because they don't fully get what America is all about: bigger is better. Bigger cars, houses, wide open fields, and horsepower." Well said. Somebody over there at CB has an inkling of what lies at the heart and automotive character of the United States. More Horsepower! More Speed! More Freedom!
2015 Mustang's Turbo Four Debuted in the Lincoln MKC(Nov 14, 2013)I love Mustangs. I owned a 69 Grande that was so much fun and was so cool. I get Ford wanting to.sell more cars to Europeans but why screw with a car intrinsic to American performance car history and values? Mustang was already a high volume product. Europeans won't and don't appreciate what this iconic car is all about.
2015 Mustang's Turbo Four Debuted in the Lincoln MKC(Nov 14, 2013)4 cyl in Mustangs is heresy. The last time Ford did this to the original pony car almost destroyed its rep. This is purely for CAFE regs. Ford can find other cars to ruin with that engine to sacrifice to the environazis.
McLaren Designer Wants VW Golf Competitor(Nov 14, 2013)Kind of queasy thinking Mac is going to try being all things automotive to all people. Nobody does that well. GM, Toyota and Volkswagen are too big. Porsche is going to find that out soon enough making too many expensive cars/trucks. But niche automakers find it hard to maintain desired profitability staying niche. Tough problem to solve.
Tesla is Serious About Building F-150 Fighter(Nov 14, 2013)This doesn't sound very smart on Tesla's behalf. The US government cronyism that got Tesla started isn't going to last forever. Things like that is beginning to become very unpopular here with the constant exposure of Americans to how the sausage is made. Tesla would be better served trying to expand that supercharging grid before the bottom falls out for government support.
2015 Lincoln MKC Arrives Early(Nov 14, 2013)The typical 17-20 something has no problem using the tech systems in most of these upscale modern vehicles. The only ones having problems with them are old tired ass auto mag reviewers. Its 2013. Learn to multitask! The tech is improving all the time. Scary actually, how quickly. I'm 57 and even I'm tired of the whining.
2015 Lincoln MKC Arrives Early(Nov 14, 2013)If Ford really wanted to take Lincoln back upmarket and clearly defined as separate from Ford then they need to make Lincoln all rwd and stop making little skateboard cars. Leave that to Audi, BMW and the rest that are forced to cater to stupid European regs, taxes and tiny roads (except for Germany's roads). Make the brand popular with America first.
Cadillac's Return to "The Standard of the World"(Nov 14, 2013)I wish it was a bit bigger but it is a very handsome sedan. I understand there's a larger rwd sedan on the way. That is a good thing even better a big coupe to match it. Revive the Eldorado nameplate!
Cadillac's Return to "The Standard of the World"(Nov 14, 2013)It seems to me very curious to hear these universal repetitions of criticism of CUE on CB posts first made by auto mags. Problem is most people don't drive Cadillacs so equipped. Especially since so relative few have been sold. How is it so many find CUE lacking not having used it?
Even More Bad Ass SS Variants May Happen(Nov 11, 2013)Curious. Why poo poo GM not offering this proposed "badass SS" initially? By that logic GM should've offered a Zr1 version of the C7 first, or Porsche offering the new turbo 911 before the latest base 911. GM is rightly gauging market interest. Chances are they'll sell lots more base 400 hp SS than the 577 hp model.
Devel 16's Engine Developed in the US(Nov 10, 2013)On second thought, maybe that is exactly being used. Turbines/jet engines? If fuel isn't readily available in any case why do that? Keen on knowing who this American designer/builder is. Only a spare handful of builders capable surely.
