Brabus at Geneva 2014(12 hours ago)LEDs are here to stay. Lots more bright light with way less energy consumed and heat produced. Huge reflectors aren't needed anymore either which is why designers are having difficultly incorporating lighting not dependent on traditional appearance. People expect headlights to look a certain way on cars.
Brabus at Geneva 2014(13 hours ago)What fun this thing must be to drive with all the added horsepower. Probably scare the crap out of the driver in a parking lot. Actually, where could you park this monster even in a normal American sized space? Where I live big trucks like Excursions have room to spare.
Brabus at Geneva 2014(13 hours ago)Lol! At least Sam Cockford is consistent. Consistently wrong but no deviations from his norm. I can genuinely respect that.
The 2015 Mustang's Interior is a Mighty Fine Place to Be(Mar 09, 2014)Why is it that there's many European sports coupes bigger and heavier (in most cases MUCH bigger and heavier), but only Challenger gets criticized for being "too big" (whatever that's supposed to mean) and the ever popular Eurocentric "boat" diss?
Pictures Alone Don't Do the 2015 Mustang Justice(Mar 09, 2014)"Not to their level"? This is why I can't stand Europe and Europeans. When Putin comes to snatch your tired ungrateful asses up the next time I hope we're smart enough to not waste our blood and treasure again. You don't have ANYTHING we want or need much less envy. Maybe that's why you piss on everything American as inferior. Jealous?
First Candy Apple Red Boss 429 Built and Sold Heading to Auction(Mar 08, 2014)Looking at this awesome car I can imagine comments like it rides too high, or the wheels are too small, or the rims are too... whatever... from CB denizens. I'd take this over most modern iron any day. Of course I'm from this car's era so it speaks to my automotive soul.
Chrysler is Crushing 93 First-Gen Vipers(Mar 08, 2014)What does Fiat care? They're just damned Dodges after all. Not important. Molar mavens can suck it as far as Fiat is concerned. I'm wondering if they'd do the same to a Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini presented with the same circumstance. I think not.
Some Insane Facts About the Koenigsegg One:1(Mar 08, 2014)The capabilities of cars these days just continue to amaze. If tree-huggers, safety-Nazis and all the rest of the control freaks had their way I wonder what Carbuzz would look like.
Will GMC Bring Hummer Back to Life?(Mar 08, 2014)In many respects the H2 is better than the H1 which is a female dog to drive or ride in on road for any thing longer than an hour. The H1 can go places off road the H2 can't but by the same token the H1 is too wide to go where the H2 can in the same environment. The H2 is a compromise but a very capable one off road and on road there's no contest. Too bad they have so much tranny trouble.
Will GMC Bring Hummer Back to Life?(Mar 08, 2014)Dang! All these H1 groupies! I bet not one of you have even ridden in one much less driven one. I have driven the pure military version while serving in the Army. The H1 is very good to excellent in certain off road environments particularly deserts and SOME rocky terrain. Forests not so much. They get stuck in mud too even with all the ground clearance.
GT-R Nismo Looks Fierce in Geneva(Mar 05, 2014)$150,000 is crazy steep, but then again all the performance cars are way overpriced these days. Even had I the money would I pay that for ANY car. Now if it were given to me I'd drive the wheels off.
GT-R Nismo Looks Fierce in Geneva(Mar 05, 2014)Oh. And I've never heard anyone in any test of the GT-R rave on how "fun" it was to drive but instead how amazing the tech it possesses that allows it to overcome the laws of automotive physics to some degree to go insanely fast. Though a a cost of driver involvement. Perhaps the newest GT-R has a less sterile drive than in the past. Randy Pobst would let you know.
GT-R Nismo Looks Fierce in Geneva(Mar 05, 2014)I think it's an excellent potential comparison of the newest GT-R against the latest Z06! I think Randy Pobst and Road and Track magazine should take a crack at that one once the iron is available from Nissan and Chevy. I like Randy the guy can really drop some knowledge on a reader what makes a car tick on a track. He really calls 'em like he sees 'em.
The Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker Will Make Life Better(Feb 27, 2014)vv Camaro and Mustang WERE pony cars back in the day. Big coupes like Challenger, Baracuda, Impala, GTO, Torino etc were true muscle cars. Camaro is more of a muscle car today given the size and weight its grown to, while Mustang has stayed closer to it's pony car roots.
This is the Best New Car You Can Now Buy (Supposedly)(Feb 27, 2014)Batteries are not the future. Electric cars are WAY from the past. Too restrictive... unless we become a police state. Oh wait... anyway I don't know what the future is but it ain't battery powered.
New Pics of "The Most Beautiful Mercedes of All Time"(Feb 27, 2014)The 300 Gullwing wasn't the best looking Merc. That would be McLaren's handiwork not Merc's. Then I would say the original CLS then perhaps the 300 SL/SLR. After that everything is rather mediocre style wise with a very few exceptions.
New Pics of "The Most Beautiful Mercedes of All Time"(Feb 27, 2014)Hey Mike the whole world revolves around what YOU like and want to hear or read. Uh... no. BTW your dad has great taste. Too bad he didn't pass his "class" gene down to his son. I hope he leaves those two Vettes you claim he has to someone else who will appreciate them when he takes a dirt nap. You can't see but I have my hand up.
Why Did GM Take So Long to Issue the Ignition Recall?(Feb 27, 2014)Yes companies must protect their customers from doing stupid stuff with their product. Companies have a responsibility to think of their customers as little stupid children ok get their asses sued off.
First Ferrari 458 Speciale Crushed by a Smart Car(Feb 24, 2014)Moderate to high speed small car crashes are almost always fatal despite government regulations designed to prevent them, because the fuel/emissions regs CAUSE the inherent safety problems. These insane regs can't overcome the laws of physics. Skateboards and semi-big crashes don't mix.
Fisker Production Starting Again - Now With V8s(Feb 22, 2014)@Sam Cockford. You do realize that every time you and every other mammal exhales carbon dioxide? Do you also not realize that there would be no plant life on the Earth without carbon dioxide which plants eat and gives off oxygen for us to breathe in return? Environmentalism gives us idiots regulating the carbon dioxide humans exhale as a toxic substance! Screw environmentalists!
Turns Out the Scion FR-S Isn't Selling As Well As Hoped(Feb 20, 2014)If government/corporate cartels weren't pushing the lunacy of human caused/carbin dioxide GW on the public and auto manufacturers and artificially keeping the price of oil sky high, we wouldn't be seeing fwd skateboards skittering around infesting our roads like cockroaches.
Turns Out the Scion FR-S Isn't Selling As Well As Hoped(Feb 20, 2014)What nonsense saying the driven wheels layout dictates fuel economy! That has absolutely ZERO to do with mpg. Engine/transmission design for performance vs mpg is the story, not fwd/rwd. Fwd dominance has everything to do with packaging for ever smaller cars dictated by government regulations not desires of buyers if given true choices.
Chris Harris Drives McLaren P1: "It's a New Thing"(Feb 20, 2014)Upfront I'll admit I adore the P1 and McLaren which are the best thing Britain has done since pissing off the American colonies and birthing the USA. However Chris Harris confuses me as he just offered up within the past two weeks a video of his test of the 918 where he's at least as positively giddy about it being the greatest. I guess not so much. The guy has the best job though.
New Ford Expedition Unveiled with EcoBoost Power(Feb 20, 2014)vv Spot on! Let us not forget Chevy's V8 gets BETTER gas mileage than the overrated Ford turbocharged V6. I guess it really does pay to stick with a design and constantly improve it as GM has done with the LS just as Porsche has done with it's flat 6
Apple Looking to Buy Tesla? Anything's Possible(Feb 18, 2014)I would never ever own any Apple device. I'm not into closed systems which Apple is and always will be. Apple security has always been a myth as hackers/virus creators once saw it as too small to target. No more. If the NSA can get into Apple systems so can the anarchist nerd across the street.
Freezing Winter Storms Send Jeep Sales Sizzling(Feb 17, 2014)Jeeps have always been about toughness and minimalist off-roading. Rock crawling. An entire aftermarket is dedicated to making Jeep even better at that. Doing things Land Rover/Range owners can't and won't do to and with their rides.
Freezing Winter Storms Send Jeep Sales Sizzling(Feb 17, 2014)I agree it's not very good looking. Worse it has no traditional Jeep design cues. Thay includes the grill which is a gross comedic characterization of a Jeep. So far I've only seen one on the road out here in California... thank goodness.
Toyota Submits Supra Patent Application(Feb 17, 2014)I'll wait to see better angle of the rear than this picture. I think they wanted to show the ground effects more than a overall look at the back end.
Toyota Submits Supra Patent Application(Feb 17, 2014)I'm a Corvette "fanboy" and don't think this car looks anything like a C7. This Toyota concept looks promising though. I just hope they'll be both brave enough to build it and wise enough not to complicate it with hybridization. We'll see.
Rich People Problem: Tesla Model S Vs. Cadillac ELR(Feb 17, 2014)It just makes me crazy how the world has become so filled with unthinking fruits and nuts. Eco-friendly! Save the whales! Global warming! Climate change! Edward Mandell dupes every one. These cars have nice tech but if the market wasn't driven by fear and government regulation developed by Mandell types would either of these cars exist?
All-New Range-Topping Mini John Cooper Works in the Making(Feb 15, 2014)$40k+ for a 220hp skateboard! People actually buy these things too. Just don't understand the draw. I've got a neighbor with two of these parked in their driveway. These folks have a couple of Harleys, a lifted Chevy pickup with beadlock off-road rims and tires (they actually take off-road) and a GM Yukon. Somehow the Mini Coopers don't fit in.
Will There Ever Be a New Alpine?(Feb 15, 2014)Agreed. That was a failing with Renault before they fell out of the American market. Weirdness just weirdness sake. Does this design serve a purpose?
Will There Ever Be a New Alpine?(Feb 15, 2014)What's going on with the doors on this car? Is serving an aerodynamic purpose or is it just more of that bad old Renault weirdness? Hard to tell from these pics.
Will There Ever Be a New Alpine?(Feb 15, 2014)Renault was plain garbage for the very brief time it was sold in America. They were as bad as Yugo just more expensive. This is an interesting (prototype?) design. This would be a nice way to re-enter our market. That is if they've worked out their reliability issues and quirky/weird ergos. Does Renault offer any rwd cars/trucks?
Callaway Will Supercharge 2015 Tahoe and Suburban to 450HP(Feb 15, 2014)vv Then don't buy it. All cars ate way over-priced. Some way more than others. Development costs of these aftermarket packages cost alot for a number of legit reasons. Like lawsuit protection from government busybodies to name just one.
A Full-Size Diesel Truck War is Brewing(Feb 13, 2014)I really wish GM would put their HD diesel in Suburban/Escalade. That's my dream family vacation ride. 8 people riding in complete comfort. No non-stop whining from the young ones "He's (or she's) touching me! And "Are we there yet?" 3 rows of seats with kids mesmerized by movie screens. Bladder busting distance hauler. If GM doesn't build it I will.
A Full-Size Diesel Truck War is Brewing(Feb 13, 2014)HELL YEAH!!! That's EXACTLY what's needed... more laws passed by more corrupt feckless morons. More government control of every tiny aspect of life because some asswipe doesn't like something someone else does. PERFECT! Every putz that says "There oughta be a law." , should be forced to suck a gas pipe.
McLaren Introduces 650S: All-New Model Coming to Geneva(Feb 13, 2014)Why is it difficult to believe the ZO6 is incapable of defeating the 12C or even this variant? Autocar and the folks at Goodwood pitted a Z51 equipped C7 against a number of European competition Porsche 911s, Aston Martins, Jaguars, etc and the C7 beat them all on the track. Wait until that head-to-head comparison takes place before passing judgement.
Corvette Museum Tragedy: The Swallowing Sinkhole in Action(Feb 13, 2014)The sink holes are most often result of a long standing drought (now broken) that plagued the American mid-western states and eastern seaboard. The Oglala aquifer was extremely diminished. Such events to the water table often results in increasing sink hole activity. The western states are now also suffering (self inflicted) drought conditions.
Dubai Doesn't Want Poor People on its Roads(Feb 13, 2014)Fo you honestly believe the government is going to give up all that tax revenue? If they banned oil burning transport tommorow the price of already skyrocketing electricity would escalate in a fashion that would blow your mind.
Dubai Doesn't Want Poor People on its Roads(Feb 13, 2014)Governments like oil prices high for a number of reasons but the main reason is tax revenue. Even the "expensive" oil produced via unnecessary fracking is NOT reducing the price of oil. In a free market this would be impossible but when government cartels and corporations collude what you get is $3/gal gas when it should be less than $1/gal.
Dubai Doesn't Want Poor People on its Roads(Feb 12, 2014)Today there exists a global glut of oil, not a shortage because OPEC purposely keeps supply to Europe tight. The oil corporations like it this way also because they can crazy profit without working hard. Profit in an environment where prices should be falling drastically.
Dubai Doesn't Want Poor People on its Roads(Feb 12, 2014)Electric is NOT the "wave of the future". Saudi Arabia and the rest of OPEC is only awash in dough because they created a "shortage" via the 1970s oil embargo and for the first time trying this actually saw oil prices rise because American large and small oil companies had been capping wells and stopping production because the price was too low to justify production nevermind exploration.
These Are the Most Expensive Cars to Own(Feb 10, 2014)Complete BS! A tune-up on a European supercar will run on average way more than $1K. A set of Pilot uber rubber to all four wheels? Carbon ceramic brakes. Carbon fiber splitter replacement. Don't even get me started on warranty enforced special lubricants. What about required 91 octane fuel? This list is retarded.
These Are the Most Expensive Cars to Own(Feb 10, 2014)What idiots made this list? Where's the Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Jaguars, Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Maseratis, Land Rovers, Porsches, Audis, BMWs, etc that should be topping this list. I call BS! With the possible exception of the BMW 750iL this list is complete crap.
Could Tesla's Upcoming Leaf Fighter Look Like This?(Feb 10, 2014)vv Agreed, but the part about daily driver is very much valid with a 300+ mile range. If you don't have a life and are stuck in a city or just have crazy fat pockets to be able to afford a completely impractical expensive green toy as a second car. I don't have it like that... yet. But if I did I'd own one.
Does Cadillac Think Europeans Are Lazy?(Feb 09, 2014)Curious thing human nature. America saves Europe's butts in two wars expending tremendous amounts of blood and treasure and then turns around and spends even more to rebuild European economies post-war under the Marshall Plan. For all that Europeans look down on America?
Does Cadillac Think Europeans Are Lazy?(Feb 09, 2014)FYI obesity has always historically signified great wealth in a society. There's always been great jealousy in Europe especially of the enormous wealth. power and freedoms that once were American signatures.
The Porsche Panamera is the 4-Door 911 We've Always Wanted(Feb 09, 2014)Excellent combination of technology, performance and luxurious 4-door comfort. Ugly as sin. Porsche has made one beautiful car in it's history - the Carrera GT. The 918 isn't ugly. It isn't pretty either. 911 just looks old and... wrong.
Horacio Pagani Tells His Story of Supercar Love(Feb 07, 2014)Mad respect for Pagani. The only supercar/hypercar I'd spend my own money on. Well maybe a Falcon F7, but that's only because it's designed and built in Detroit using LS power and All-American manufacturing. And yes, I'm a nationalist. Bite me.
