This isn't the only Mazda6 recall in recent months.
Throughout the years, the Mazda6 has been the subject of several recalls, such as the infamous recall where spiders invaded the fuel tanks and caused a potential fire risk. This latest recall, however, doesn’t involve spiders, fortunately. The Detroit News reports that the Japanese automaker is recalling more than 60,000 2015-2016 Mazda6 sedans in the US and Canada due to a problem involving the problem steering. Specifically, wires under the front passenger seat can rub against welding debris, thus causing them to short.

This could then, theoretically, cause a loss of power steering which would greatly increase the risk of a crash. Fortunately, no crash or any other related injuries have been reported. To remedy the problem, Mazda dealerships will inspect all of the vehicles and install special insulating tape or a protective shield under the seat in order to prevent the wires from rubbing against each other. Owners will reportedly witness multiple warning lights going off if the problem is occurring. Affected owners will be notified directly by the automaker and the recall will officially get underway this week. This isn't the first time in recent months Mazda has recalled this particular model. Back in July, 2014-2015 Mazda6s were recalled due to possible parking brake failure.
