Jeep’s changes look subtle on the outside but should keep the Wrangler far ahead of its (nonexistent) competition.
You can take in all the speculation, rumors, and non-visual information you want but the truth of the matter is that there’s nothing better than good old-fashioned photographic evidence. What we're talking about in this case is of course the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, a modern rendition of the classic cult off-roader that’s seen more rumors and renderings leak out than most other modern cars in recent memory. It could have to do with how Fiat Chrysler enjoys teasing its products to drum up attention.

In either case, the tactic of letting details leak out slowly seems to do wonders for Jeep, giving the automaker free marketing one tease at a time. This leak, uncovered by Reddit user LGTIII, seems to show the first image of an uncamouflaged 2018 Wrangler we’ve seen yet. Shot from what appears to be the factory floor, there are a few features that are dead giveaways of the updated but similar-looking Wrangler. Most apparent are the character lines under the side windows as well as a vent aft of the front wheel well, both of which are changes we’ve seen on renderings drawn up using information gathered from sources at Jeep. Also noticeable is the larger greenhouse afforded by making the sections of glass larger and the metal portion of the door shorter.

From the little we can see about this Wrangler, it seems that the profile is longer, just as previous rumors have indicated. Despite the added dimensions, the Wrangler will be lighter than its predecessor thanks to the use of lightweight aluminum for the hood and doors, though the frame will still be forged out of high-strength steel to preserve integrity in case the situation off-road gets too hairy. By the looks of the inclusion of Jeep’s Selec-Trac full-time four-wheel drive system, floating solid axles, and the three or more engine options we expect to come mated to an eight-speed automatic, it seems like the Wrangler will have more than enough off-road hardware to get into trouble.
