The Porsche costs twice as much as the Alfa, but it’s seems to have a hard time justifying that here.
Everything about the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is as exciting as the title “Italian sports car” advertises. A wicked exterior designer who deserves a spot in the automotive design hall of fame, a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 derived from and tuned by Ferrari with the exhaust note to boot, and of course that healthily balanced Giorgio platform that makes ripping its expensive rear tires to pieces a necessary guilty pleasure, like sex on a plane or underage drinking.
On the other hand, it’s not exactly as exciting as, say, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. It costs a minimum of $140,000 compared to the Alfa Romeo’s $72,000 starting price. That’s double the price, but is the Porsche double the car? Some fans of the German automaker would argue so, but this video begs to differ.

Like most good sports car chase videos, it takes place on the Nurburgring and depicts an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV pursuing the 911 GT3 RS, matching its agility in the corners and making that giant rear wing look useless. It certainly can’t be the 5 horsepower premium that the Giulia has over the 911—that’s undone by the fact it weighs nearly 700 pounds more. Instead, it's speed can be explained by two things. One is that BMW M3 that seems to be holding up the Porsche and not letting it pass. However, once that’s dealt with, the 911 has no excuses, which leaves explanation two to be the most plausible: lack of skill on the part of the Porsche driver.
