The Corvette is going mid-engined, but you can have one now.
While we wait patiently for the mid-engined C8 Corvette, design and fabrication firm, the Aria Group, has been working on its own creation – the “Fast Eddy,” named after late GM designer Ed Taylor. When we spoke to Aria’s president and CEO, Clive Hawkins, about his Chevrolet Aerovette XP-882 inspired creation, we were reliably informed it would come powered by a LT4 engine from the Z06 with similar power output, so 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch.

As massive fans of the stunning design and distinguished provenance of the Aria concept, when wheelmaker HRE Performance Wheels dropped some new pictures of the car, we felt compelled to share them with you. Finished in satin black with a five double-spoke design, the alloys fit Fast Eddy like a glove. The need for lightweight alloys is crucial as Aria aims to keep the car under 3,000 pounds. The Aria FE will feature a carbon-fiber chassis with a fabricated front and rear sub frame, and will be capable of 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds, the standing quarter-mile in 10.1 seconds, and a top speed of 210 mph.

Hawkins also confirmed to us that the FE has "rear ducts and a unique body surface which provide downforce without the need for any big wings." Aria hopes to build 100 units of the FE, priced around $500,000. Building 500 cars for homologation is also under consideration but that won’t be easy. However, if someone were to call up Aria saying that money was no object, there’s every chance it would build them a single car.
