Ever wondered how the Eleanor Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds would look as a rugged off-roader?
Custom car manufacturer Zero to 60 Designs has made some stunning creations. At last year’s SEMA Show it presented the GTT, which was essentially the love child of a Ford Mustang and a Ford GT. If that wasn’t already unusual enough, it’s now created a tribute to the 1969 Shelby Cobra GT 500 from Gone in 60 Seconds, better known as Eleanor, from the unlikeliest of vehicles – a 1975 Ford Bronco. It was an unusual request that took Zero to 60’s president Kenny Pfitzer by surprise.

“In meeting with the owner of the Bronco, he said his favorite car of all-time was the 1969 Shelby Cobra GT 500,” he said. “In my 20 years of vehicle builds and development, I’ve never seen a modern take on 'Eleanor' reincarnated as a Ford Bronco, so I immediately became interested in taking on this unique challenge.” The result of the extensive restoration project is called 'Eleanor’s Big Brother.' Because most of the original Bronco’s parts were outdated, Zero to 60 Designs had to replace almost everything to ensure the Bronco could handle the rough terrain it was originally built for. To achieve this, the company enlisted some of its key partners for the job.

Yukon Gear & Axle upgraded the Bronco’s driveline, and installed new locking hubs, driveshafts, a custom 9-inch rear end, and a 30-foot kinetic recovery rope. A new roll bar system was installed by Zero to 60 Designs to protect all occupants, along with new front and rear bumpers and custom seats. New tubular doors were also installed by Wildhorses 4x4, as well as a new hood and aluminium trim. A lift kit was provided by Skyjacker Suspensions. As a finishing touch, Line-X coated the Bronco in unbreakable Body Armor, with a color scheme matching the iconic 1969 Shelby GT 500 from the 2000 Gone in 60 Seconds movie starring Nicolas Cage.

“Even though the vehicle was 41 years old, we wanted to bring a modern flavor to the Bronco, but also wanted to make sure that it was still raw, aggressive and purpose-built for the off-road,” said Pfitzer.
If in the unlikely event that a Gone in 60 Seconds sequel is made, Eleanor’s Big Brother needs to have a role.
