Knowing this guy, his words might be more than just talk.
Elon Musk likes to talk about his car business as if it were a technology company rather than an automaker, and nowhere does that become more evident than during Tesla’s reveal parties. Using former Apple CEO Steve Job’s signature presentation-style product reveals, Musk clearly has fun getting on stage and wowing the crowd as well as inspiring a cult-like following with features like Falcon Wing doors, a HEPA filter-backed Bioweapon defense mode, and Autopilot’s semi-autonomous capabilities.

Well, it’s almost time to cook up the popcorn and get ready for another reveal because the Tesla CEO recently took to Twitter to tell the world that his company’s long-awaited semi truck will hit the stage this Thursday. And while a semi truck might not make for the most adrenaline-inducing vehicle one can think of, Musk seems to think his take on it will change the game. Likely typing out his tweet from Tesla’s Nevada Gigafactory as the executive works around the clock to eliminate issues plaguing what will become the world’s biggest production facility, Musk said, “Tesla Semi Truck unveil to be webcast live on Thursday at 8pm! This will blow your mind clear out of your skull and into an alternate dimension. Just need to find my portal gun…”

Those are pretty bold claims, but Musk’s reveals have rarely been anything but. Using electricity to supply 200-300 miles of range, the Tesla semi may become the best option for regional truckers looking to save on fuel costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and do so with upmost efficiency by relying on the latest generation of Autopilot to enable “platoons” of trucks to travel down the highway in power-preserving formation. In typical Musk fashion, the semi’s November 16th reveal date is actually a bit late. Originally the truck was supposed to be revealed on October 26th, but the company had to push back that date so that there would be more time to sort out problems with the production of Tesla's first priority, the Model 3.
