The question everyone's been asking. We find out.
When the latest Mustang hit the market, Ford made a bold and, for some, controversial move. In addition to the standard 3.7-liter V6 and optional 5.0-liter V8, both naturally aspirated engines, Ford also introduced a new turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 310 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Our tester was also equipped with the optional six-speed automatic which sends power directly to the rear wheels. Now, just to compare, the base V6 produces 300 hp and 280 lb-ft, so, yeah, the turbo four is more powerful and, not surprisingly more fuel efficient.
That’s why the V6 is on its way out for 2018; the new base engine will be the EcoBoost. And if the latter engine sounds familiar, that’s because it also powers the Focus RS.

Our Mustang came painted with the optional Ruby Red Metallic exterior paint along with 19-inch Ebony Black painted aluminum wheels, heavy-duty front springs, larger brake rotors with 4-piston calipers, large radiator, and unique chassis tuning. Step inside and you’ll find one of the coolest interiors in any new car today; it’s a wonderful combination of new and retro that captures the spirit of the Mustang's past. Combined with respectable fuel economy, lots of interior comfort and plenty of premium features, the 2017 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents the future of an iconic nameplate. And yes, it’s a true Mustang, only one that’s been updated for a new era. Special thanks to Walnut Creek Ford for letting us film the car.
