The Green Hornet's Black Beauty has been perfectly replicated.
Meet Darren Monteverde, a devout car guy who’s very much in touch with his inner child. You’d like him. He’s the kind of guy you could talk with for hours about cars, old TV shows, and an endless amount of related trivia. We already showed you one of his other cars, a "Starsky and Hutch" modified 1976 Ford Gran Torino. But today’s old school TV show car favorite is a bit more, how shall we put it, flamboyant? What started out as a 1966 Chrysler Imperial has been turned into the Black Beauty, an exact replica of the Green Hornet’s wicked cool ride.
Measured at nearly 19-feet long, this Black Beauty replica is one of those passion projects where the tiniest of details matter and, of course, it’s never fully completed; there’s always more to do. Darren tells us that several years ago a car modifying friend of his bragged that he could build any car, so Darren requested the Black Beauty.

Two years later the build was completed. Powered by a stock 440 cu in V8 with 350 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque, power goes to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic. But it’s all of the insanely cool details, right down to the hand-crafted truck scanner/tracking device, that are the most impressive. Doesn’t matter whether or not you’re a Green Hornet fan (or if you’ve even heard of the character and his sidekick, Kato). Fact of the matter is that one guy commissioned his childhood hero/dream car. Hey, you only live once. Special thanks to StarCarCentral.com and the car’s owner, Darren Monteverde, for letting us film the car.
