We doubt few will really miss you.
A few months ago, Honda officially dropped its Toyota Prius-fighting Insight. That really came as no surprise. And now the Japanese carmaker has confirmed that yet another green model has been given the axe: the Fit EV. The gasoline-engined Fit will remain in the lineup. An official reason for the Fit EV’s departure wasn’t given, but it’s fair to assume its because of slow sales. Honda will continue to produce the car until later this fall. It will also continue to support existing customers during their lease period.

To begin with, Honda only committed to building 1,100 Fit EVs for the US market. Obviously the sales experiment didn’t really pay off. In related news, Honda is still deciding the fate of the FCX Clarity fuel-cell car. More than likely, it’ll be replaced with an all-new model based on the FCEV Concept from last year’s LA Auto Show. But for now, Honda buyers seeking a green car still have several models to pick from, such as the Accord plug-in hybrid and Civic Hybrid.
