You’ll have to crack open the history books for this one.
The Internet is abuzz after it was announced the first official batmobile ever made had been rediscovered after decades in the wilderness. It was created by Forrest Robinson and borrowed the chassis of a 1956 Oldsmobile 88. It was used for a short while as a promotional vehicle by DC Comics before being replaced by the iconic batmobile built by George Barris for the Adam West TV series. Everyone knows the Barris Batmobile, but do you know the car it was based off? As always, leave your best guess in the comments section.

If you guessed the 1955 Lincoln Futura concept, you’re right! The Futura first hit the auto show scene in 1954 and was built by hand in Turin, Italy, at a cost of $250,000 (about $2.2 million today). John Najjar and Bill Schmidt were the men behind the iconic concept, which Barris reportedly later bought for just $1 (it was complicated). Barris turned the Futura into the Batmobile in 1966 and the rest, as they say, is history.
