It only cost the guy $1.1 million.
Back in January it was announced that NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick placed the winning bid at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, to be the proud owner of the first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to roll off the production line
. VIN number 0001 was just delivered to Hendrick, who also had the chance to pick out its colors: black with a red interior. And as a special surprise (probably because the dude is ridiculously rich), GM gave Hendricks a second Corvette, VIN #0002, as well.
It’s red with a red interior. Basically, that $1.1 million, which is being donated to a student financial aid fund for the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, bought Hendrick the first two 2014 C7s ever. He’s also a self-described Corvette gearhead, with around 150 of them in his collection. But Hendrick doesn’t plan on driving either of his two new Corvettes for reasons we don’t know.
