Following the reveal of the all-new CTS, Cadillac aims to lure even more Mercedes and BMW shoppers with an all-new CTS Coupe.
dust settling on the all-new Cadillac CTS that premiered at last week’s New
York Auto Show, talk is turning towards whether a coupe version will return. According to Edmunds, Cadillac is seriously considering expanding the CTS
lineup with a new coupe. While no confirmation was forthcoming, Cadillac’s
global marketing chef, Jim Vurpillat, admitted the current CTS coupe was the
best-selling luxury coupe in the industry. There was no
mention of a new wagon, so rumours of Cadillac killing that off appear accurate.
The current CTS was hoped to take the luxury sedan fight to Mercedes-Benz and BMW, but it lacked a killer punch. Having been lengthened and trimmed down, the new CTS is in better shape to take on the German midsizers with a next-generation CTS Coupe to offer decent back-up. When it arrives, the new two-door will likely sport unique exterior styling like the current model, ensuring it remains an able contender against the likes of the Mercedes E-Class Coupe and BMW 6 Series.
