Pininfarina to Build Ferrari Sergio?

Ferrari-based tribute speedster could reach a select few wealthy owners if five of them open their check books wide enough.

Lamborghini stunned showgoers in Geneva this year with the $4 million Veneno, but that may not have been the only limited-production, multi-million-dollar Italian supercar to have emerged from the Swiss expo. While it debuted as a concept car, word on the street is that Pininfarina could build a small run of its Sergio show car. Production of the speedster, based on the Ferrari 458 Spider, would be limited to about five examples, each selling for 3 million euros (or $3.9 million in equivalent US dollars).

According to Automotive News, Pininfarina developed the Sergio with road regulations and production feasibility in mind. However a windshield could be installed on the “production” version to make it more user-friendly. With a windshield or without, the Sergio is said to be a good 330 lbs lighter than the 458 Spider, so while the performance stats quoted are similar (at 3.4 seconds to 62 and a 200+mph top speed), the Sergio could prove the faster of the two Italia-based roadsters.
