GT-R Track Edition Debuts in Chicago

The 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition has been unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show.

The GT-R is already a highly capable track car, yet Nissan now offers the GT-R Track Edition, an even more potent model that ditches the back seats in favor of a lightweight quilted cloth mat to drop weight and adds a set of blue-trimmed specially upholstered front buckets that will keep occupants firmly in place when things get naughty. A hardcore 4-wheel independent suspension for the Track Edition was developed at the Nurburgring, consisting of Bilstein DampTronic gas pressure shocks and higher spring rates.

It also boasts a new front spoiler with carbon-fiber air ducts, special brake cooling ducts, and refined brake cooling air guides. The special performance enhancements augment the upgrades made for the GT-R 2014MY, including new fuel injectors for better toque response in the 4,500-6000 rpm range, the addition of an oil pan baffle, and an aluminum nameplate that comes with each hand-assembled engine bearing the name of the individual engine builder. Other special features on the GT-R Track Edition include a lightweight dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler and a set of metallic black six-spoke RAYS forged alloys.

Nissan is planning a limited run of just 150 units of the Track Edition, and will be available in a choice of Deep Blue Pearl, Jet Black, Solid Red, Gun Metallic and Pearl White when it hits American showrooms in May.
