Comments - 2014 Tundra Pops Up in Chicago

Published: Feb 08, 2013
Description: Given that it's touted as a truck show it would be remiss of us to not include at least one truck related reveal from the Chicago Motor Show, and the model that's grabbing the most headlines...

The original one was a T100 and then they switched to Tundra in like 2002 or 2003
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
First year was '99.
Judah Lindvall Feb 08, 2013
I thought it was like '97
Preston Ming Feb 08, 2013
I'm pretty sure the tundra was launched before 2007, more like 2002..it was redesigned in 07 though
Edison Rante Apr 06, 2013
New Toyota Tundra Truck
Mkii Supra Lui Mar 14, 2013
Just as capable as the dodge or ford??? The tundra has surpassed the pick up truck bar and set it so high it'll be a few yrs before other manufacturers get there, it just sux that they changed the front..
Mkii Supra Lui Mar 14, 2013
The new front is horrible
Steven Wilson Feb 10, 2013
HIDEOUS!
Tanner Middleton Feb 10, 2013
why the fuk do all the 2014 trucks come with THE MOST chrome. it looks so ugly. its so much work to keep it detailed when the whole truck is covered in it!
Kyle Kloewer Feb 10, 2013
Looks shitty. Why do all the new trucks have a face of a sumo wrestler?
David Parenti Feb 10, 2013
Then the big threes trucks aren't totally American either.
Robert Shurtz Feb 10, 2013
Technically the Toyota tundra isn't American for it is not really built bu assembled in America with parts from Japan
Pouv Khath Feb 09, 2013
@Dustin.....get your facts straight. Don't be a moron!
David Parenti Feb 09, 2013
It's built in America by Americans. The vin begins in 1. Yet you argue that it's not American. The logic. Some dodge trucks have been made in Mexico for a number of years. The tundra is more American than a didge
David Gomez Feb 09, 2013
Toyota isn't on par with the big 3, and the part where you said "the money goes overseas" makes it not american at all. There is one thing Toyota does well is trick us into sending our money to Japan.
David Parenti Feb 09, 2013
Lol I love when people say the tundra is not American. Sure the money goes overseas, but it's built by Americans in America. It's American enough for me. My girlfriend drives a tundra and its just as capable as any other truck.
Thomas William Tuer-sipos Feb 09, 2013
I'm a fan of the tundra but that front fascia is so horrible, looks really really bad haha
Jack Howard Feb 09, 2013
All of these trucks are great. You can't really go wrong with any of them
William Downs Feb 09, 2013
The tundra may be from a Japanese company but its just as much a truck and just as capable as Chevy dodge and ford.. Same goes for the Nissan titan .. Neither is a bad truck
Dustin Dimmitt Feb 09, 2013
Yeah they are built here but all parts are shipped from Japan and built by none union workers on not very good salaries people just don't get it bye American take this ugly rice back to Japan
Lou Guerrero Feb 09, 2013
Dave, these are some of the best trucks you can buy. They're designed and built by Americans....in Texas.
Dave Sasser Feb 09, 2013
Tundra still big and ugly and will never stack up against ford gm and dodge Toyota and Nissan need to just give up sadly to say
Doug Deeks Feb 09, 2013
Said it once and say it again......nothing beats a Ram!!
Ryan Lopez Feb 09, 2013
I hope it grows on me but now it sucks
Jordan Smith Feb 08, 2013
I like the Sierra the best.
Brian Howard Feb 08, 2013
Silverado looks better in person but still not great but the serria looks good
Dylan Bruder Feb 08, 2013
This sucks
William Downs Feb 08, 2013
I agree with Colby, new sierra looks beast, Silverado I need to see the head lights in person to decide.. But sierra looks like a big rig and I love it
Graham Young Feb 08, 2013
Ugly as fuck
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
The new Sierra is definitely not the best looking
Andy Clouthier Feb 08, 2013
I think Zaire is saying this wont be so bad looking once the Titan redesign is released, which will be worse.
Colby Church Feb 08, 2013
Maybe Zaire means to defend Japanese trucks, but yeah, this is a design fail. The new Silverado, Sierra, and F series look a lot better. Not sure about the Ram yet. But none of the trucks changed very drastically. The Sierra is the nicest new truck.
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
Zaire your comment makes no sense
Joe Talerico Feb 08, 2013
To me, headlights way too small for a grill that big.
Zaire Wilkins Feb 08, 2013
I feel like the 2015 titan will save this truck
Bruno Nanber Uan Feb 08, 2013
Niiice!
Matt Piccolo Feb 08, 2013
Chrome is a bit much
William Downs Feb 08, 2013
I see influence from all 3 of the big american trucks, see some dodge with the general front end shape, some ford in that grill and the side profile with its squared off fenders looks like a silverado
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
I'm thinking last years is better.
Derek Patten Feb 08, 2013
That grill doesn't work on this truck.
Tyler Tarbox Feb 08, 2013
Gosh this is so ugly. Even worse than the previous generation
David Parenti Feb 08, 2013
Did somebody beat this thing with a chrome stick? Too much chrome puked all over it, especially the front.
Description: The chrome grille has grown taller, and the front lower bumpers now sport a three-piece design (repeated at the rear). The fenders and wheels wells have been squared-off that affords the Tundra a wide...

New tundra
Luke Melanson Mar 12, 2013
Looks nice to me!
Tanner Middleton Feb 10, 2013
still pretty ugly even with barly any chrome. id like to see it as a lifted show truck. then it MAY look better
Dave Sasser Feb 09, 2013
Is it me or doe's this look like a truck that if the f150 and a silverado had sex this would be the result lol like a ugly step child
Doug Deeks Feb 09, 2013
Nothing beats a Ram!!!!!!
Brian Howard Feb 09, 2013
Am I the only one that sees some ridgeline in this?
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
It looks better in this picture, the chrome seems to be overdone otherwise.
Tn Ng Feb 08, 2013
Lots of improvments, but still no match for Ram, F-150, Silverado.
Dylan Bruder Feb 08, 2013
Always found the tundra ugly
Gray Conron Feb 08, 2013
It looks too weak...... The old one was so brawny looking and this looks like it turned vegetarian or something.
Ethan Amo Feb 08, 2013
Very good
Garrett Middleton Feb 08, 2013
I miss the first gen Tundra
Aziz Umarov Feb 08, 2013
Agree with Patric
Patrick Schalk Feb 08, 2013
There's an awful lot of Ram influence in this.
Zeus Mocha Feb 08, 2013
This is pretty ugly IMO
David Parenti Feb 08, 2013
Muuuch better than all the chrome IMO. Clean looking truck
Robert Shurtz Feb 10, 2013
Toyota wants you to think they are made in a America, by born in America they were designed and assembled in America for the American population, not built, saying built in America is just something they're saying to get people to buy it
Anthony Yantha Feb 09, 2013
Thought this was about 2014 Tundras....
Tyler Richey Feb 09, 2013
It's because the Tundra was created in America. The only other common truck outside of the US is the Hilux.
Clinton Burger Feb 09, 2013
So that's why they keep getting uglier
Jordan Smith Feb 08, 2013
They're completely designed and built in America or something like that.
Lucas Raggio Feb 08, 2013
Why does it say born in America on the front?
John Patten Feb 08, 2013
I wonder if its a tundra
Stephen Tyler Learn Feb 08, 2013
I always though the things looked like alien
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
That's the old one
Nick Benz Feb 09, 2013
David... Toyota doesnt sell a br-z
Jack Howard Feb 09, 2013
David....many Toyotas are good but not exciting
Aaron Crisp Feb 08, 2013
They're fine, performance wise you GT86, Supra and LFA rule.
David Gomez Feb 08, 2013
All Toyota are bad. Except for the fr-s, br-z, or gt-86 models
Tin Nguyen Feb 08, 2013
Don't like the front. The old ones look much better.
William Downs Feb 08, 2013
Honda ridge line?
Ethan Amo Feb 08, 2013
You guys are just haters and think all toyotas are bad
Colby Church Feb 08, 2013
The old one looks better. I have no idea how they got this approved.
Tyler Evans Feb 08, 2013
Great it turned into a girls truck
Ryan Spencer Feb 08, 2013
Trucks don't need LED headlights
Jommel Marcella Feb 10, 2013
First gen was better than anything.
Anthony Yantha Feb 09, 2013
Looks kinda like element front too
Garrett Middleton Feb 08, 2013
I spy the front end of a Honda Ridgeline. This seriously looks horrible. The first gen was the best looking by far.
Tanner Middleton Feb 10, 2013
bigger rims/tires, so it atleast matches the transport truck sized front end.
David Gomez Feb 08, 2013
I was referring to Matt in denial of the unmistakable similarity due to his love of Toyota/dislike of fords.
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
I'm a Toyota fanboy. And I do agree that like Ford the front ends just look overdone. Too exaggerated. But I always end up seeing one I like no matter the brand.
David Gomez Feb 08, 2013
Looks like the ford because of the grill. 3 agree, 1 Toyota fanboy doesn't.
Matt Piccolo Feb 08, 2013
I don't see any ford here. Unless it looks like an f150 bec they're both trucks, there're no similarities IMHO
Pouv Khath Feb 08, 2013
@Fix... Learn how to spell!
Zachary Fix Feb 08, 2013
Leve to the japan to copy sometime
Wyatt Ortega Feb 08, 2013
Yep from ford
Vlad Lukyan Feb 08, 2013
Looks alot like an f-150
Walter Alexander Thomas Feb 10, 2013
Ford and Dodge trucks looks better from top to bottom.
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
The design of the rear is my favorite part I think. I'm not so sure about the rest.
Tin Nguyen Feb 08, 2013
The current gen looks better all around.
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
Ok? I didn't say he was a dumbass for liking it.
William Downs Feb 08, 2013
How does another company copying off the Silverado make the Chevy a sad truck, makes no sense, and jack looks are all personal preference and I love the looks of the Silverado, looks huge but there not really that big when your driving them
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
The Chevy looks terrible. The wheel wheels are boxy as hell and the front is ginormous
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
Chevy fanboy...
Colby Church Feb 08, 2013
The new Silverado is pretty badass...
Stephen Tyler Learn Feb 08, 2013
@william that's just how sad the silverado has gotten over the years
William Downs Feb 08, 2013
At first glance I thought it was a silverado
Tyler Richey Feb 09, 2013
You guys do realize that post Y2K Nissan trucks were/are pretty much Toyota right? Nissan buys rights to many technologies from Toyo. The latest Frontier shares so many non-cosmetic things with the Tacoma.
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
Now this one I like! A lot!
Jack Howard Feb 08, 2013
Looks pretty good from this angle
Tyler Evans Feb 08, 2013
The titan has had the same design since it was released
Vlad Lukyan Feb 08, 2013
True, its been awhile since the last tundra model came in 2007
Taylor Garry Feb 08, 2013
Good it was time for a change up. Now the titan is waaaay overdue
Corey Alan Kelley Feb 08, 2013
Nice
Luke Melanson Mar 12, 2013
Seeing a lot of f-150 in the interior, not a bad thing though!
Abdulla Ahmed Haji Feb 09, 2013
Nice truck
Gray Conron Feb 08, 2013
"And this is my new F150!! I mean tundra........."
William Downs Feb 08, 2013
U treat a luxury truck like a regular truck, only difference is how nice of your ride home is gonna be, dirt and mud aren't gonna ruin anything
Chris Friend Feb 08, 2013
I thought this was an F150
Anthony Hsieh Feb 08, 2013
Interior looks just like F150
Ashton Summers Feb 08, 2013
Don't see the point in a lux interior in a pick up. Where will I kick all the mud?
Daniel Bustamante Feb 08, 2013
Truck with lux
Matt Piccolo Feb 08, 2013
Interior looks good
Jordan Smith Feb 08, 2013
Definitely not the only one, but in a work truck like this, I think most people would prefer an automatic.
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
Looks pretty nice to me! But where did all the manuals go? Lol. I want a standard transmission. I know I'm not the only one.
Jack Howard Feb 09, 2013
Those lights are always on before you turn the key the whole way
Joshua Grant Robinson Feb 08, 2013
Maybe they caught it before the lights went off. My Toyotas were always that way.
Sam Moore Feb 08, 2013
11 miles and a check engine light?!?! Toyota is slacking.
