Published: Feb 04, 2013
Description: We recently had some spy shots showing Alfa Romeo's upcoming 4C undergoing final testing. But what we haven't been able to confirm is what the power output will be of the mid-engined Porsche...

I would tune it up to 550 HP, maybe even more
Dylan Bruder Feb 04, 2013
Wonder what the torque is
Cian Mac Gearailt Feb 04, 2013
I do believe they refer to the engine as 1.75
Jackson Michael Feb 04, 2013
I think they really focused on handling over power but the stradale will probably be more powerful. I hope.
Chris Gaines Feb 04, 2013
I hate this. I know for a fact a lot more power can be squeezed out of a small displacement engine while keeping it economical and reliable. look at cosworth and other manufacturers getting 300+ out of a 4 cup easily
Luke Purdy Feb 04, 2013
Lets hope it's not as bad as the 8C
Jason Ofhorrormoviefame Feb 04, 2013
Kind of disappointed. This is fast and everything and very similar in weight and HP to the Exige but I had been hearing 300 and got excited. Maybe a performance variant will have the 300 HP that would separate it from the Exige.
Tyler Tarbox Feb 04, 2013
This thing will still be fast. Like a Lotus Elise I assume. Only without horrid interior
Jackson Michael Feb 04, 2013
The Italian lotus. I like it.
Antonio Falsetti Feb 04, 2013
I would buy it.
Ben Taylor Feb 04, 2013
It looks ugly with that THING over it
Jackson Michael Feb 04, 2013
It's so hawt
Description: For those thinking that 237 hp simply isn't enough, consider this: the 4C has a carbon-fiber chassis that will keep overall weight down which in turn will enable it to remain on par performance-w...

The evo is horribly thirsty. A lower output increases efficiency improves reliability and reduces costs. The car is light it doesn't need any more. Also for a small italian coupe its not that badly priced there is only 2,000 being made
Jason Brower Feb 05, 2013
The 4c's motor makes 6 hp/ liter less, and it costs 15 grand more. Despite the car's low weight I'd still expect at least the same power, if not more.
Jason Brower Feb 05, 2013
I'd disagree that 237 is a good output for a turbo 1.7. It's not uncommon to see turbocharged engines with better specific output, even well below 50k. Look at the Mitsubishi Evo, it's 2.0 turbo makes 291 hp, an efficiency of 145 hp/liter.
Dylan Bruder Feb 04, 2013
I fing it hard to see only 2000
Cian Mac Gearailt Feb 04, 2013
Lets hope theres a large demand and we will get more then 2,000
Antonio Falsetti Feb 04, 2013
I like the idea but 50k is too much. I'll just buy a Brz and turbo it.
Ben August Feb 04, 2013
$50k is the new $35k. This will be sweet! If it really weighs in significantly less vs Porsche, the resulting competition between Alfa/Porsche will be awesome! New models going to be incredible down the road.
Jason Levy Feb 04, 2013
That in a car that weighs so little and looks so good means its super worth it
Jason Levy Feb 04, 2013
Keep in mind though that 237 hp out of a 1.7 liter engine is great. Plus its turbo so if you do have the experience you claim to have about tuning small engines, you would know that this could easily reach 300hp and torque with bolt ons and a tune
Darian Vorlick Feb 04, 2013
Maybe it's just my supercar bias and/or experience with tuning small engines but it's hard for me to stomach $50k for a 4-banger.
Justin Johnson Feb 04, 2013
Carlos, the last article said it was going to be 2,000 or 2,200lbs.
Carlos Eduardo Gaviria Feb 04, 2013
It better weight under 2,500 lbs to be competitive
James E Caldwell Feb 04, 2013
Carbon fiber chassis, limited production to 2000, it's going to cost more than $50k I'm sure.
Description: What's interesting is that this number includes the track-only version and the road-going Stradale, both coming in 2014 with even more horsepower. We'll have further details in the coming we...

They'd better.
Jordan Smith Feb 04, 2013
Hopefully.
Carlton Sofocusedon Green Feb 04, 2013
There gonna end up makin more than 2000
Antonio Falsetti Feb 18, 2013
I guess you don't understand the reason behind camo.
Joe Paul Feb 05, 2013
I like the tape holding the rear tail lights, very stylish, very Italian. The mechanic work order holder is a factory equipped option for the rear hatch. Smart.
