Nismo GT-R Coming in 2014

Nissan's performance brand has moved to a larger facility, paving the way for series of new Nismo models - including a Nismo GT-R.

Nissan's Nismo performance arm has been tasked with creating the ultimate GT-R for the road. Joining the Juke Nismo and 370Z Nismo, the GT-R Nismo, based the 2013 GT-R, will become Nissan’s new flagship model and the third Nismo-badged model from the performance-orientated brand. As Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn said upon opening the new Nismo facility in Yokohama, "It would be unthinkable for us to develop a range of Nismo road cars without including the GT-R."

The standard road car is a global supercar and the GT-R's performance on track reflects the passion and talents of the Nismo team. The GT-R Nismo will be special and I can't wait to drive it." Expect the R35-gen GT-R Nismo to be significantly more capable than the recently unveiled Track Pack, which is the current top-spec model. While Nissan remains tight-lipped over the specs of the GT-R Nismo it plans to roll out next year, it has announced that the Nismo brand will enter a new era of performance road car production of which the GT-R will be just one part, albeit an incredibly fast one.

The 180-strong Nismo team is now located inside Nissan’s Powertrain Engineering Complex, which incorporates the fabrication, grinding and carbon-composite processes, as well as a larger showroom and retail area. Starting with the Juke Nismo, all Nismo vehicles will produced in conjunction with their stock counterparts. Nismo will launch one new model for each year in Nissan's Power88 plan, in which the Japanese automaker aims to increase both its market share and profitability by eight percent by 2016. While Nissan grows, we're looking forward to seeing what the Nismo division has in store.
