Land Rover Freelander 3 Caught Testing

The next-generation Freelander SUV has just been caught testing, but don't expect to see it arrive on the market until 2015.

What you see before you may at first look like a larger version of the Range Rover Evoque, but is in fact a test mule for the upcoming all-new Land Rover Freelander, known as the LR2 in the US. The photos today come courtesy of our always-sharp spy photographers, who were able to recognize the fact that the British automaker disguised this prototype by using Evoque-style body panels.

But what specifically gave away the fact that it’s really the next LR2, possibly to be called the Freelander 3 or LR3, is the fact that there are slightly miss-fitting body panels around the wheel arches. Some rumors circulating around claim that the next Freelander will even be offered in three different body styles this time in order to better expand its market appeal. More than likely, the new SUV will debut in 2015 and we’ll more than likely see additional spy pics of it in the months ahead with body panels that’ll more closely resemble the production version.
