@Matt. It's a combination of the fact I don't really like BMW and the fact that I love AMG so much. Am seriously considering buying one within the next few months
It might not look great compared to competition, but the performance and abilities as a daily driver make it my favorite in class!
Ahah u really don't seem to like BMW Tyler. Anyways, I'd have to go M>AMG. I like Mercs but for some reason, I can't see my self buying one. I'd always take a BMW, Audi, Lexus or Acura over them. Idk why bec I like their cars, I just wouldn't buy 1
Its not meant to compete with the Black edition. If BMW were to create an enhanced performance M3, then that's a different story.
I've never really liked BMW, but them sticking with good old mannies and RWD just made me like them so much more!

AWD isn't exactly BMW's strong suit. The systems in the SUVs aren't that good. Good job BMW for realizing where your fans come from.
I don't mind an auto as long as its RWD.. I infact thing autos add a poshness to the interior and whilst manuals are good for 5% of the time whilst driving .. Autos also thrill .. But I read somewhere that the 1 series will be FWD from next gen on !
I agree, RWD is, by far, the best, for everything from precise steering feel for going faster round corners, to just hanging the tail way out and having fun. Thank you BMW. Thank you so much.
The m5 is available with a manual in the US only, because BMW tried to introduce the 10cyl M5 with no manual option a few years ago and long-time customers in the US refused to order them.
Yea but manual transmissions are found more frequently in other parts of the world in much, much less expensive cars than an M5. The high end market is mostly automatic.
Is the article stating that the only way to get a manual M5 is in the US market? If so, that sounds backwards of how auto-manual transmissions in US vs. world markets usually works.

kudos bimmer. Its almost becoming a privilege to have a stick in some cars now.

Love the DCT in my m3. Glad I took it over the stick. And yes the DCT is much faster!! It's amazing.

The new M5 looks good, but yet there's just something about it that doesn't get my blood rushing like with the older models. They definitely should've kept the V-10.
This latest M5 looks good and it's an overall good car, it's just missing the driving feel and interaction of the last gen!
I've been In the old M5 and it was a bit ... Hairy for most of the time .. This reminds me of my 1996 BMW 523 in a way .. Just wish the dash was a bit canted towards the driver more

Perhaps its for insurance reasons? Remember, Merican Manufacturers used to underrate the Hp in some cars so the cost of owning one wasn't through the roof.
@ Tyler, yea I don't understand it either. I know motor trend often says they surpass audis stated performance figures. I guess it's just one of those automotive mysteries
@Matt. Yeah I think you are right on that one. I've heard Audi underestimating their performance numbers. I don't really see why they would do that though. Doesn't make sense to me
I wouldn't want this car for its performance, I'd want it just to look at it.
I think the Audi looks better, not by much, but still look better than the M5 and CLS. It may be slower but it has everything else you could ever want in a car. Audi fanboy here.
I can attest to Matt here: my mom has a 2004 Allroad with the twin-turbo V6. They claimed 0-60 in 5.1 I think it was, whereas I got it from 0-60 in 4.7. On loose ground.

They are slick cars but I am still not a fan. The front is great and very aggressive. But the sides are so bland.
Audis look great but they're tanks. I prefer sportiness over luxury, so BMW ftw. Plus Audis current cars lack soul, where BMW still caries on the tradition of the 3 and 5 series
I'm so indifferent about Audi. Never nothing really awesome to say about them yet nothing really bad either.
My personal choice, but all three are frickin incredible cars. Yasser... you wouldn't take a C63 black series or a SLS?

This is my favorite of the article. I love the lines in the rear quarter panel. Still, I would honestly take a CTS-V over them all.

So you can buy a manual BMW but you won't ever be able to drive it since it will be in the shop all the time.
Really not a fan of BMW but it's nice to hear that they're sticking with the RWD and and manual.
I wont love BMW but i like their designs not including the 3 series or 4 series. And (S65-V8 engines)

Yay, now we have a choice not to have that stupid electronic gear lever that doesn't always do what you ask.
One of the reasons that I like BMW over the other luxury car companies was that you had a choice between manual or auto transmission as well as being RWD; when I'm ready I'm shooting for a 5 series 6-speed manual 550i

All wheel drive is not bad at all, but the front wheel drive is just unacceptable. New a45 Mercedes is off the list automatically due to the drive setup.
