Chevy SS Wagon Being Considered

GM is reportedly considering importing a sportwagon variant of the new Chevy SS to the US.

It’s only been a few days since Chevrolet officially unveiled its reborn Pontiac G8, now called the SS, at the Daytona 500. Based off the Holden VF Commodore, the new SS will be Chevy’s first V8-powered rear-wheel-drive sedan in well over a decade. But today, as Holden unveils the wagon and pickup ute versions of the new Commodore, comes word that GM execs haven’t entirely ruled out the possibility of bringing a station wagon variant Stateside as well at some point in the not too distant future.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, GM North American chief Mark Reuss isn’t ruling out importing a wagon variant of the SS to the US. At the same time, however, Reuss confirmed that there’s no chance a Chevy-badged SS Ute will appear on US shores. It will remain as a Holden in Australia only. No timetable was given regarding the potential arrival of an SS wagon, but Reuss did hint that there is a market, albeit small, for such a model amongst US buyers. The upcoming redesigned Cadillac CTS, by contrast, will drop the wagon variant in the US when it premieres later this year.
