Super car status is attained from performance only, has nothing to do with looks interior or exterior wise, people keep forgetting that, exotic materials and fancy interior makes it an exotic, if the corvette isn't a super car then neither is any so called super car it stomps on the track
Corvette is a supercar, it's not an exotic, but it is a supercar, a supercar has nothing to do with low-production or price, it is about performance, and a somewhat nice interior, high price and exclusivity is for exotics
@stephen - 55K is the MSRP but they are selling for about 70k. The stingray will be the same way the first year, don't get me wrong. But the next year you really will be able to get one for 55k.

The ZR1 will lap the 'ring faster than anything below its price point and the base C7 hits 60 faster than any production car for 55k or less. That is probably the best definition of "super" I can think of. Not hard to build a fast car for $1M but..
definitely have a better 0-60, because the launch control on the C7 is very sophisticated, and this car is better off the line than the C5 or C6, which can be harder to perfect. C7 ZR1 0-60= 3.0 seconds. Mark my words.
The C6 will outrun almost any supercar from any era up to just recently. So yes, if you've driven one, you would definitely consider them supercars. Just because it's mass produced doesn't make it inferior. Quite the contrary. And the C7 ZR1 will

Corvette should not be on here because it has too many variations. You could pick one up for $45k. Yes, the zr1 is over $100k but the corvette is anything but supercar. The s7 should have made the list.

Well the only problem with a motorcycle, is if you crash, the coroner has to scour the highway for all the body parts. In a car there is a nice thing called doors that keep all the major body parts and fluids in one spot. Easier clean up.
Some of you are crazy. The C7 is the best looking Corvette, and the C6 is gorgeous as well. I have a hard time choosing between C5 and C6. I like the curvy, old school, stealthy look of the C5, and the sharp, aggressive, modern looks of the C6.

Yes A (front) B (middle) and C (rear) pillars. That only pertains to this car. Some cars have a D mostly SUV's. I don't believe there is anything less than C.

Hey I think we're in agreement! I just always wonder why SRT would make a 700LB+ motor, that is competing with 400lb motors- especially when the new motors (Vette vs viper) have similar output.
Ford coyote v8: 5.0L 425lbs Chevy ls3 v8: 6.2L 415lbs There's times where it's true and times where's not. There is a correlation between displacement and weight but it is not 100% true all the time

From what I understand, the 8.4 in the SRT Viper holds the current record for largest motor in a production car. 8.4L = 512.57 CID ... That's effing huge IMO, and though cool, also a shit ton of weight.

McLaren is also getting over 600 HP. The difference is that their 600+ is from a 3.8, not a frickin humongous-ass 8.4.

I'm pretty sure the old one was called GT40 because it was 40 inches off the ground. This is 43. Also, old one is way sexier.
The MrkI, II, and III were all designed and built in England. the MrkIV was in America, but the roots of the GT40 are pretty much all British. The new one is American too, so i guess it counts :/

8+ years old car people. I hope for the sake of engineering, technology, and performance that the newer Viper and ZR1 are faster. But the numbers this thing puts out is still awesome.
The ZR1 and Viper are faster than this, but this car is from 2006. And I don't think Colby is much of a Corvette fanboy, as much as he is an American Muscle fanboy with lots of knowledge on these cars.

The ford gt is a beast and is as fast as the viper this can go 212 mph that incredible and even has a awesome 0-60 time we can truly make some nice cars nothing away from the new viper tho
A ZR1 is faster than a Ford GT, and so is the new Viper. This isn't much slower, but it is. My dad painted on one before and I got the opportunity to go for a ride. It didn't disappoint.
If Ford was smart, they would revive the Thunderbird and make it a lightweight sports coupe with lots of power to compete against the Corvette and Viper. And just for the record, this is a fast car, but reading the comments, most people are clueless.

A new Cobra isn't for this world anymore. Nothing will ever be as pure as a Shelby Cobra and Carroll already tried with the Series 1 anyhow. Ford needs an original car because reviving icons will only take them so far.

Gt500 destroys its class, but Ford really needs a super car. Maybe team up with Shelby and make a true successor to the Cobra. That would give Ford an excuse to develop a 427ish sized modern engine. 7.0L modular would be pretty badass.

I just looked at it again. People, it's not a gap, they left the "hood" cracked. It isn't shut all the way is all.
Also this is a custom paint job, so the panels aren't factory fit anymore. When cars like these are painted, they are pretty much stripped apart and put back together afterwards. Anyways, it doesn't look bad, in fact, this looks freaking awesome.

@colby the chassis is produced in Hethel, England... The engine is assembled in Sealy, Texas (at hennessey's tuning firm)... Then both parts are sent off to Silverston, England where the final assembly occurs (electronics, interior, etc...)
V10 for its "screaming" super car. Almost like in Hennessey's case, except I can't justify paying near $1 million for an overpowered car that can't be used to its full potential on the street. I'd rather have that Exige Roadster that the US never got

Peter, the Gallardo uses a V10 based on an Audi V8 which was actually developed by Cosworth.
I'll recant that last little tid bit, because Porsche has always designed their engines.
Oh and by the way, the only Audi sourced V8's on the market are for the Bentley Continental V8 and the Spyker C8. Lamborghini and Porsche have always designed their own engines without Audi and VW ( with the execption of early Porsche's) .
Carrol Shelby did it with the A/C Cobra, Shelby also helped create the original Ford GT40, and the Dodge Viper wanted to be the reincarnation of the Shelby Cobra. Now those are facts.
So, can we just say this was a British American creation? The Brits built the lightweight chassis, and the Americans built the wonderfully overpowered engine. Simple as that. It is truly an American custom to have way too much power for a RWD car.
My claim is that the only thing American made in the car is the engine (again, the car is not even assembled in the US) so by y'all's same ideas, I can drop a corvette motor into my Lexus and now it's an American car
Everyone has different classifications for what makes different cars different ethnicities. Since Hennessy really only makes the engine in America I'm more inclined to think it's British.
