Rinspeed Wants You to Rethink Mobility

If this is what the future of mobility holds, then walking may be a better option.

We're used to seeing Swiss company Rinspeed come up with some interesting concepts over the years, like the Lotus Elise-based 2008 sQuba that can submerge underwater and the Bamboo, an open-topped four-seat beach cruiser that premiered at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Now Rinspeed is back with its microMAX concept, a sort of miniature shuttle bus that will have its official premiere at this year's Geneva event.

A few details and photos were released back in December but now we have more specifics regarding this all-electric urban people mover concept. Measuring in at 3.7 meters long (roughly 12 feet) and 2.2 meters tall (just over 7 feet), the microMAX is roughly the same width of a Mini Cooper but is tall enough for its passengers to stand up. The interior boasts a coffee maker and refrigerator along with a 19-inch HD touchscreen from Harman that displays various functions. Other features include an acoustic pedestrian safety system and Cloud technology that provide passengers with an "ergonomic workspace."

Cyclists can even attach their bikes to the rear end. Although it hasn’t been confirmed for production, Rinspeed claims pricing would likely fall somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 Euros if the microMAX concept were to come to market.
