Comments - Cadillac ELR Takes Priority Over the Volt

Published: Feb 15, 2013
Description: The Chevrolet Volt costs about $40,000 before a federal tax credit, which brings that price down to just over $32k. It's not a horrible price to pay for a state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid, but at ...

When they take you to your grave, They drive you in a Cadillac Why not enjoyable one, while you can, It's only money. Can't wait To get back to Canada and order one of these beauties
Carlos Dorantes Feb 16, 2013
Mmmmmmm, Obummer must be so proud! What a POC!!!
Michael Manoloudis Feb 16, 2013
Do a search on the Volt concept vs the production car to get an idea of how much this will morph into something much less appealing.
Justin McLeod Feb 15, 2013
More like a battle between the caddy and the Lexus ct200h hatchback. That thing sells surprising well and if GM prices this well enough we could have a global alternative automotive battle here.
David Gomez Feb 15, 2013
Lol battle of the badge
David Jefferis Feb 15, 2013
Caddy looks soooo much better.
Johnny Matias Feb 15, 2013
More like Battle of the Badge

Jacob Burford Feb 16, 2013
Not sure about this one!
Corey Alan Kelley Feb 15, 2013
Drop an ls9 on top of those batteries fuck it all
Dave Rain Feb 15, 2013
It looks great, but it won't sell
Guo-Sheng Huang Feb 15, 2013
I want one!
Justin McLeod Feb 15, 2013
People who can afford a $40k plus car do not want Chevy quality interiors and styling. This car will appeal to the broader range of people with money and should sell better than the volt, even it it does cost $10-15k more. Got lexus in the crosshairs
Justin McLeod Feb 15, 2013
I doubt it will be a failure, not with gas prices these days. GM is smart using the volt as a test mule and taking what they've learned putting it into this. There's more of a market for luxury hybrids.
David Gomez Feb 15, 2013
They still can't find a better looking way to block out the grill?
Zachary Sindelar Feb 15, 2013
If priced right it then it will be a great seller, but like any Caddy they always over price them.
Tim Preisinger Feb 15, 2013
I would drive this any day
Greg Kenerly Feb 15, 2013
Failure??? I want one of these.
Colby Church Feb 15, 2013
We'll see Alex. I say it does well.
Sam Reinsel Feb 15, 2013
how so? it looks great
Alex Bouckley Feb 15, 2013
This has commercial failure written all over it.

I was kinda wondering about the guts... Is this ELR going to have more? Like the 2.4 or 2.5? Or 2.0t? If they could push 220hp with the same Mpgs or close then they might have a keeper.
Rueben J Yslas Feb 15, 2013
They don't have an ats-v yet.
Colby Church Feb 15, 2013
They have other cars for that guys, this is an electric car, it's what they want. They already have the CTS-V and ATS-V. They don't need more of the same thing, they need broader appeal.
Oscar Galvan Feb 15, 2013
Anyone who's looking for this type of market will not care if it's awd, rwd, or fwd,
Connor Scanlon Feb 15, 2013
Not a bad price
Chris Gaines Feb 15, 2013
I would never spend that much on a FWD car...
Cian Mac Gearailt Feb 15, 2013
I hope they replace the 1.4 because i would never spend that much money for such an unpowerd car
Justin Johnson Feb 19, 2013
One of the better looking cars on the road. Probably the best of the "lower" priced electrics and or hybrids. As a matter of fact, the rear end of this car is sexy. It reminds me of the first generation Lex GS that came in 1993.
Dylan Bruder Feb 15, 2013
They look pretty sharp too
Dale Schroeder Feb 15, 2013
I've driven one for a couple days and it really is a nice car. Not enough to justify the price tag, but if it were in the $25k or so range I'd consider it as a daily driver.
Cian Mac Gearailt Feb 15, 2013
I actually love this car mostly because of the state of the art engineering
Justin Johnson Feb 19, 2013
le beautiful.
Justin Johnson Feb 19, 2013
Anyone that says this is ugly is lying to themselves. Hopefully it won't change too much. Caddy and Buick in terms of styling are the bread winners for the GM brand. Caddy has been evolving that chiseled glacier styling in pride. They made a boxy sty
Bren Bracken Feb 15, 2013
Nice? yes, 55-60k nice? Idk about that
Zeus Mocha Feb 15, 2013
So nice
Justin Johnson Feb 19, 2013
This car is gorgeous in person
Nick Schnee Feb 15, 2013
The Ampera has a much nicer overall appearance than the Volt, and yet they don't sell well... Guess it must be the price tag.
Tracy Keiser Dron Feb 15, 2013
the Europeans fave the same car, but in Opel clothes, which looks a bit better, maybe a bit "sportier"
Judah Lindvall Feb 15, 2013
Only part I like is the tail lights
Connor Scanlon Feb 15, 2013
No it doesn't look better in person*
Connor Scanlon Feb 15, 2013
No it doesn't
Cian Mac Gearailt Feb 15, 2013
I think it looks better in person
Jeremiah Goins Feb 15, 2013
It's horrible looking compared to a lot of things.
Jason Ofhorrormoviefame Feb 15, 2013
Lol, side by side this thing looks horrible compared to the ELR
Justin Johnson Feb 19, 2013
No seven speed manual?!? LOL
Jacob Burford Feb 16, 2013
Nice design!
Pablo Herasme Feb 15, 2013
Classy
Adam Beiersdorfer Feb 15, 2013
Carbon fiber and wood next to each other... That's different
Malachi Monteiro Feb 15, 2013
Nice ass interior.
Justin McLeod Feb 15, 2013
Now this is more like it, def looks like a space I could see myself comfortable in. Well done Cadillac designers
Colby Church Feb 15, 2013
I agree.
Erik Rudolph Feb 15, 2013
This interior is fantastic
Justin Johnson Feb 19, 2013
The console color is eh but the interior is very nice
Jacob Burford Feb 16, 2013
Take away the white, and it looks nice!
Dylan Bruder Feb 15, 2013
It is all laid out pretty well and cleans easily
Tyler Ray DeFord Feb 15, 2013
Ah a flat black interior so classy and.....wtf is that?
Tracy Keiser Dron Feb 15, 2013
that white shifter will prolly be grey after a bit of touching
Justin McLeod Feb 15, 2013
Compared to the caddy, I'd feel like I was driving an iPod if I was behind the wheel of this... I'm all for loosening the reigns on contemporary design, but it has to be tasteful and appealing, and this is neither of those...
Michael Rasmusson Feb 15, 2013
I worked for a Chevy dealer and had a Volt for a weekend wasn't a bad car but the 30 mile range isn't worth the price tag. Unless you don't drive much. Also it's so low to the ground I wouldn't say its a good winter car.
Colby Church Feb 15, 2013
I don't think it looks bad.
Connor Scanlon Feb 15, 2013
I agree
Zaire Wilkins Feb 15, 2013
That white is random
Malachi Monteiro Feb 15, 2013
This interior is terrible.
