They have conversions but I would want to just go buy one instead of Havin to buy one then pay more for the drop in
Tim Ranahan Feb 14, 2013
Agreed, the Wrangler should have been done first. With the new "clean diesel" engines you get long engine life and much better fuel economy.
Jason Ofhorrormoviefame Feb 13, 2013
Probably the best idea I have heard from Jeep in a long time
Aaron Crisp Feb 13, 2013
PLEASE! I will buy one and do a truck conversion. This would save me so much time having to drop in a 4BT Cummins myself.
Pablo Herasme Feb 13, 2013
Jeep Should have been diesel from the start
António Villas-Boas Feb 13, 2013
The diesel Wrangler already exists all over the World, just not in the US. And yes, diesels are great for off-road because of the massive torque they have. If they only sounded better...
Bill Estep Jr Feb 13, 2013
Enough wit this n the 4 door wrangler truck do it already I mean they had this idea for so long it's really starting to annoy me now
Austin Marks Feb 13, 2013
I'll be first in line to get one
Austin Bride Feb 13, 2013
DO IT
Jesse Jalapeno Feb 13, 2013
Its bout time they do diesel
Jason Brown Feb 13, 2013
Both, nothing that impressive may I add...
Jason Brown Feb 13, 2013
They sell both in diesel in Korea and other parts of the world. The Wrangler comes with a 200hp, 46.9kg.m 2,776cc engine while the grand Cherokee comes with the 241hp, 56kg.m torque 2.987cc engine.
Scott Whittman Feb 13, 2013
Should have done it the other way around Wrangler then Cherokee. Sales from the Wrangler would shoot up giving incentive to making the Cherokee.
David Parenti Feb 13, 2013
Bout' time.
Aaron Crisp Feb 13, 2013
I want this color Wrangler, make it an unlimited rubicon with truck conversion and diesel and I promise I'll buy it.
Lou Guerrero Feb 13, 2013
Maaan, I think a TJ with an islander decor option would've been awesome.
John Augustus Feb 13, 2013
Tbf both are reliable as hell. Also I'm told you can fix most things on a defender yourself, it's been designed that way. Diesel is far better for an off roader, more torque, better range, what's not to like?
Patrick Schalk Feb 13, 2013
Really? Because I haven't had a single problem with mine and I beat the crap out of it.
Jake Dula Feb 13, 2013
Like Jeep is any better? Still gonna be broken down most of the time lol
Patrick Schalk Feb 13, 2013
Yeah take it to the mechanic.
Ryan Lopez Feb 13, 2013
Hard to find one cheap
Bobaloo Anderson Feb 13, 2013
I'll take the Defender
Description: Thing is, if a Wrangler diesel were to make it to production, buyers would be forced to pay quite a premium. Want proof? A leaked pricing document for the GC diesel shows that it'll cost around $...

You can't compare the diesel to the 6 it has to be compared to the Hemi which provides similar horse power and towing capacity to the diesel. My 2007 grand Cherokee with the diesel was only about $2500 more than the Hemi. The significant gas/diesel mileage differences and greater towing capacity of the diesel made up the price difference within a couple of years. Comparing it to the well under ...
Aaron Crisp Feb 13, 2013
I want that diesel! It'll pay for itself, better mileage and will last much longer. Long live diesel!
Michael Page Feb 13, 2013
Your right, I don't know the true mpg's of the uk wranglers. I'm going off carpages.com.uk info. And the crd was crap when it was in a liberty years ago, but I've heard it's improved.
Jason Brown Feb 13, 2013
So the 9.4 KM/L is for highway!
Jason Brown Feb 13, 2013
Not sure how you are fairing more than you claim. The EU and Asia official fuel rating for the wrangler is 9.4 KM/L around 22.11 US mpg for the 2.776cc engine.
Jason Brown Feb 13, 2013
@Michael, you need to be careful with you post mpg from UK. The liquid quantity differs from the Imperial gallon to the US gallon. Your gallon is 20% larger than the US gallon. 1 Imperial gallon = 1.20 US Gallon.
Michael Page Feb 13, 2013
Wranglers and trucks are the only vehicles that can live for decades in the deep woods. And since they have the engine to make my solid front axle beast a 40mpg smoker that could tow, sign me up
Michael Page Feb 13, 2013
Wranglers are not just for suburbanites to go rock crawling when school is out. My house is at the end of a two mile bad dirt road that trees fall on. Flooding happens every year here. It's 25 miles to town (Miami ok).
Cian Mac Gearailt Feb 13, 2013
Its most likely the merc engine they used to use in the commander in europe. Should sell well with that engine
Taylor Garry Feb 13, 2013
Michael you just answered your own question. Do you not know what a jeep is?
Jake Dula Feb 13, 2013
If you're concerned with mpg, why buy a Jeep? Go get a Polo or something.
Michael Page Feb 13, 2013
Wtf? Why the v-6? The 2.8 crd they use in uk gets 40mpg on highway in a wrangler. I've got a pentastar jku, I'd much rather have twice the mpg's than gobs of torque.
Jimmy Williams Feb 13, 2013
Please, please offer this. I'll trade in my Wrangler the day these become available!
Ben Bright Feb 13, 2013
420 lb/ft out of a 3.0 v6 is great!
Patrick Schalk Feb 13, 2013
Oh definitely. There's no shortage of used parts either. Plus anytime you break something at an Offroad park there's a good chance someone will have an extra something. Plus there's nothin like cruisin around with the doors and tops off.
Taylor Garry Feb 13, 2013
The aftermarket scene is what i love the most about it. Soo much cheaper to lift, bumpers, etc
Patrick Schalk Feb 13, 2013
Get one Taylor! You won't regret it. The aftermarket scene for them is ridiculous and my JK is one of the easiest things I've ever worked on
Taylor Garry Feb 13, 2013
Yeah i daily drive and offroad a truck, and hate the attitudes of most jeep owners, but i have to admit id love to pick up an older jeep to use as a weekend warrior. Theyre known as one of the best for a reason
Aaron Crisp Feb 13, 2013
Suck it Jake!
Justin Routh Feb 13, 2013
@Jake what is better then?
Dillon Dixon Feb 13, 2013
This is the ultimate factory off roader. Lots of offroad options and aftermarket support, and it has only gotten better over the decades. There's a reason there's thousands of Jeep Clubs, it does what it's made to do better than its competition.
Tom Ippolito Feb 13, 2013
Quit being a troll jake the wrangler is easily one of the best off roaders on the market for the price and has a ton of aftermarket support
Jake Dula Feb 13, 2013
I think that's going a little too far. Jeeps are great off road, but I wouldn't call it the best.
Patrick Schalk Feb 13, 2013
Like a boss. Most capable factory SUV. Period.
