Citroen Reveals Technospace Concept

Geneva-bound minivan concept previews new Citroen C4 Picasso.
Citroen has announces its latest concept, and while it may not be as exciting as some of the show cars it has unveiled in recent years, it gives European buyers at least a good idea of what to expect of the French automaker's upcoming new C4 Picasso. The artist's name is what Citroen uses to differentiate its minivan models, and with no small measure of success: since 1999, Citroen reports that it has sold some 3 million examples of the Xsara Picasso, C3 Picasso, C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso.

The French automaker calls this concept the Technospace, but while some stylistic elements are expected to be dropped on the way to production, it gives a fairly direct preview of the new C4 Picasso to be launched in the second half of 2013. It's the first vehicle to be based on PSA's new Efficient Modular Platform 2, a lightweight architecture which (combined with efficient new engines) promises to make the MPV as environmentally friendly as possible. While it's shorter in overall length than the existing C4 Picasso, its wheelbase is longer (with shorter overhangs to optimize interior space. Look for the Technospace concept to bow at the Geneva show in March.
