Description: On the one hand, we could feel sorry for the disgraced owner of this totaled Mercedes SLS AMG. But on the other hand, this driver was clearly unworthy of owning a car as beautiful and capable as this....Add Comments6
Harrison TrapnellJan 08, 2013 Finally the exploding door bolts are used!!
Shelby CassandraJan 08, 2013 @Thibault. You would think that is the case, but the SLS drives incredibly smooth and the power is hardly noticeable until you punch it.
Thibault LeroyJan 08, 2013 Well with cars this powerful it doesnt take a whole lot to have an accident
Nick SchneeJan 09, 2013 I actually think they work underwater, I mean, as if Merc hasn't thought of people like this guy.
Dennis ChoongJan 09, 2013 The gull has landed... upside down, lol
Pijak JaiharnJan 09, 2013 My friend has one in Phuket
Jacob BurfordJan 09, 2013 No! Not an SLS! There one of my favorites!
Jordan SmithJan 08, 2013 It has those exploding bolts that shoot the doors off, but I'm not sure if they'd still work underwater.
Tanton StonemanJan 08, 2013 R.I.P. SLS AMG. Pay respect to this death
Tyler TarboxJan 08, 2013 Two questions come to mind: 1) How does that even happen? 2) How the hell did he get out? Bet those gull wing doors don't seem so great now
Serge PankratovJan 08, 2013 Lol Kyle. Now that u mentioned it, i actually do!
Description: The debacle took place in Liupanshui, China, and aside from the photos detailing the accident's aftermath, we wish there was at least one shot showing the driver crawling out through the window, ...Add Comments8
Jon Dustin HouseJan 09, 2013 Mercedes wants you to not be able to open the doors if you're dumb enough to flip yourself upside down in a pond.
Eric DareJan 09, 2013 @ Luke. You can't just use the exploding door hinges, they are supposed to go automatically when you crash.
Shane CarrollJan 08, 2013 C'mon Mercedes, you really should have done the prerequisite Chinese Pond Flip test
Luke PurdyJan 08, 2013 He obviously didn't listen to the salesman when he bought this car, he could of used the explosive hinges so the doors could come off so he could get out easier
Sam OglesbyJan 08, 2013 It has exploding door pins for when it crashes
Harrison TrapnellJan 08, 2013 Doesnt the SLS have door bolts that can come off?
Nodnarb YdilJan 08, 2013 They probably were not designed to be submerged. This jack ass shouldn't be allowed to drive anything other than a bicycle after this
Chris PenzaJan 08, 2013 Uh oh. They'll probably get sued for this
Brian ThemoparguyJan 09, 2013 Epic Fail.......
So sad to see the car like that. As long as the drivers ok.... The car is replaceable...... Expensive but replaceable.
Thomas William Tuer-siposJan 08, 2013 And all you white people look the same. You kidding me Daniel?.. Idiot
Daniel OlsenJan 08, 2013 All the people in the picture look the same...
Shane CarrollJan 08, 2013 I have a much better solution, just don't flip into a pond. Problem solved
Carlos Eduardo GaviriaJan 08, 2013 Windows look small and with the side airbag deployed its no easy task to fit through there. Plus you're doing everything upside down while drowning.
Saqar KhudairyJan 08, 2013 It's hard to open the doors under the water pressure maybe
Dillon DixonJan 08, 2013 It kinda looks like the hinges are popped, but not completely? Maybe it didn't fully work because of the water?
Adenis KalashNikov RuciJan 08, 2013 You can see the hinges blew up. But maybe due to the hinges being exposed to the water, they might of clogged and left the doors there
Landon LauerJan 08, 2013 I agree with Lou the doors should be off
Eric ChauJan 08, 2013 Made in china????
That's a big fish daddy!!!
Lou GuerreroJan 08, 2013 Something not right here. The hinge bolts shoulda popped to free passengers in a roll over.
Dan McCartneyJan 08, 2013 The one window does look to be broken out too. And considering it flipped on its top, it doesn't look to horrible.
Chris GainesJan 08, 2013 luckily it was a Chinese guy and not a stereotypical American lol
Kyle McCulloughJan 08, 2013 Windows dude. Just gotta fit through the window
Carlos Eduardo GaviriaJan 08, 2013 Holy shit, it's gotta be impossible to get out of there if the gullwing doors emergency discharges don't activate
Nick SchneeJan 09, 2013 Well, that's some stuff for a new SLS facelift, ain't it?
Aj WhiteJan 09, 2013 @Shane
Note that one door is disconnected from its hinges. It's connected at the bottom on its striker. Like everyone has already stated they probably didn't activate fully due to the water.
Shane CarrollJan 08, 2013 @Josiah note both doors still attached to the vehicle
Josiah Thomas ClementsJan 08, 2013 The SLS is equipped with a button that shoots the door right off of its hinges, providing easy access out of the vehicle if it flips over. The driver probably used it to get out.
Lou GuerreroJan 08, 2013 Safety in action! The wrecked Gallardos showcased their roll over pop up and now this.
Dillon DixonJan 08, 2013 That door is off its hinges. The other side isn't though
Its dumb f*ck award
Dumb f*ck award / announcement. Not too sure which one, but they both work
What's dfa stand for?
Finally the exploding door bolts are used!!
@Thibault. You would think that is the case, but the SLS drives incredibly smooth and the power is hardly noticeable until you punch it.
