MT Drives a 1500 HP GT-R

It may look stock from the outside, but some brilliant engineering by AMS Performance has more than doubled the GT-R's output.

It may look unassuming when compared to a stock Nissan GT-R, but this AMS Alpha 12 GT-R can produce up to 1,500 horsepower. On this latest episode of Motor Trend's Ignition, Carlos Lago gets behind the wheel of this ultimate Godzilla in pursuit of a sub-ten-second quarter-mile. AMS Performance claims its aim was to build the best supercar they could. Starting off with a stock GT-R with 530 horsepower, they slowly went about doubling its output.

They had some difficulties along the way such as drivetrain, transmission and electronics issues, but the hard work paid off. Amazingly, the finished product still looks OEM both outside and under the hood. So just how fast is this tuned GT-R? Watch the video to find out.
