Got to love brand loyalty. One guy said you could tune the viper but not the tess, bigger motors or reprogram the current ones to push closer to their limit. As was said below the combustion engine will end up losing out to electricity. It's cleaner way more efficient just very expensive due to development costs as was the case with early combustion motors.
It was obvious that the tesla was going to win i don't see why you's think it was fixed electric cars have incredible torque the viper would have taken over if it was longer
The viper didn't get its ass handed to it, that was 100% the driver screwing up, viper has a way better 0-60 then that and a lot better of a 1/4mile

While impressive of the Tesla S, u have to keep in mind the Viper they used is almost 10 years old and for whatever reason it didn't run at it's optimum level.
The fact that a lot of you want faster, new cars and/or a better driver, etc is a testament to how ground breaking this car is. To think this is only the beginning for Tesla...

That was interesting and dont forget climate and track conditions change the time the viper wont automatically hit 12.1 every time just because it's capable of it
Even with it loosing badly, I would take the Viper over an electric car any day.
Wow. EV 4 door saloon beats a viper on a drag strip. EV is still a relatively new tech in cars, imagine what it'll be like in 10years. Mark my words, this is the beginning of the end for combustion engines. Just sayin
Something is quite off... A Stock 2003 Viper according to MotorTrends road test shows a quarter mile time of 12.19... Which is faster then the fastest run by this Telsa S
If only battery tech would be better so you could take the Tesla on a road trip AND.....it was affordable for us normal folks.

In fairness, the Viper isn't the kind of car I would use for a drag race. I dislike them as a rule, but I bet an Ariel Atom or a Nissan GTR would keep up, at least...
I think the Model S looks great with 250-300 mile range and real performance numbers. I want one!!

I love how the viper that lost was a 2003 with 500 hp but all the pictures are of the 2008 ACR with 600 hp! There is a .5 second difference in the0-60 right there

The result depends on the driver, and the Viper is hard to tame. I guess the driver didn't know how to handle it.
