Chris Harris Snowdrifts S60 Polestar

Volvo plans to make six of these and price them at £200,000. After spending some time with one on the snow, Monkey thinks they should make a whole lot more.

With the S60 Polestar, Volvo is attempting to get back into the fast car market. The last time it did so, with the likes of the T5 and T5R, the Swedish carmaker sold more cars. And its new Chinese owners hope for a similar trend when Volvo finally turns this sublime concept into one of six fully-fledged production cars. To get some perspective, Harris pits the limited-run development car against the best high-performance small saloon car on the market: the C63 AMG that packs 487 hp and 442 lb-ft, compared to the S60 Polestar's 508 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque.

The Swedish automaker delivered the car to Harris from Sweden so he could drive it away from the snow. That didn't quite go to plan, so the auto scribe was forced to snowdrift it alongside the C63 before dragging them on the strip for good measure. A significant step up from Leno's tame effort in the car.
