Ford Reveals Refreshed Fiesta in Amsterdam

The 2013 Ford Fiesta gets a modest refresh and a host of new technology.

A host of new products will be revealed this week at the "Go Further" event Ford is holding for a select group of dealers, employees and media in Amsterdam. Amongst them will be the refreshed 2013 Ford Fiesta that boasts a sharper design and a raft of new technology. Adopting design cues inspired by Ford's current global design language, the face of the new Fiesta is its most striking feature, with a trapezoidal front grille offset by laser-cut angular headlamps and LED daytime running lamps.

Under a "power-dome" designed hood Ford has fitted its three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, which offers best-in-class fuel economy though official consumption figures have yet to be released. The new Fiesta is also equipped with an advanced package of technologies, such as the SYNC infotainment system and Active City Stop, a system designed to help drivers avoid low speed collisions. MyKey will make its European debut on the Fiesta, a system that allows the configuration of maximum speed and audio volume limits as well as enabling all driver and safety aids.

This particular piece of kit is aimed at overprotective parents wanting to keep their teenagers in check. It's worth noting that all specs listed are for the European version of the new Fiesta; details of a US version will be revealed later in the year, while more details of the European-spec Fiesta range, including a new version of the pocket hatch Fiesta ST, will come when the car debuts at the Paris Motor Show at the end of the month.
