Merdad Reveals Cayenne Turbo Coupe

British tuner channels coachbuilding tradition with two-door turbo Cayenne.

British aftermarket tuner Merdad has released a new project which seeks to resurrect the tradition of English coach-building. Drawing inspiration from such iconic British firms as Park Ward, Tickford and Hooper, the Northampton-based company's latest project focuses on the 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with more style and power but fewer doors. The result is the Merdad Porsche Cayenne Turbo Collection Coupe, boasting a sleeker shape with longer doors replacing the four with which the stock Cayenne leaves the factory.

Merdad has also fitted a widebody kit and 22-inch forged wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber and fitted to a custom suspension that lowers the Cayenne Turbo by as much as 40 mm. The custom Cayenne doesn't stop at the doors, however, boosting output from the 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 from 500 horsepower to 670 for a 4.4-second spring to 62 and a 186+ mph top speed. For the interior, Merdad collaborated with Mattes Interieurtechnik to fit four bucket seats that is pictured here in red and black Alcantara and leather, but can be upholstered to the customer's wishes. All that comes at a price, however: in this case, a whopping £395,000.
