Porsche 918 Spyder Ring Time and Brochure Revealed

The fourth fastest production car around the Nurburgring will come with a special paintwork option priced at 50,000 Euros.

Good news today for fans eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Porsche 918 Spyder. Not only has Porsche revealed the hybrid supercar's official Nurburgring lap time, but a leaked brochure also gives us some insight into the production model. The production version, as revealed in the leaked brochure, will be available in a dozen different colors or one of two racing livery wraps to recall the classic Martini Racing and Salzburg Racing designs. If you want the Liquid Metal finish of the original show car in either titanium or blue, that'll set you back another 50,000 euros.

The 7 minutes and 14 seconds it took the 918 Spyder to lap the Ring makes it the fourth quickest production car on the leader boards, on par with the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package but a tad slower than the Dodge Viper ACR (7:12) and Gumpert Apollo Sport (7:11). That easily makes it the fastest roadgoing hybrid ever to lap the famous German circuit, though.

A clear-coat carbon-fiber targa roof is also an option. With just 918 examples to be made, Porsche seems to be offering enough choices to keep each one distinct. Other new details to emerge are the fact the front boot has a capacity of 110 liters, and that the Weissach Package (employed by the model that lapped the Ring) includes a six-point harness, front and rear dive planes, a lightweight braking system and Alcantara and carbon-trimmed interior. With the removal of armrest, door storage, a/c and sound system, 35 kg is stripped off the car's curb weight.
