Toyota Reveals Updated Verso

European- and Asian-market MPV gets over 300 upgrades, set to debut at the Paris Motor Show.

When the doors open in a bit over a week at the Paris Motor Show, there will be a whole mess of new cars on display. This may not be the most exciting, but may be among the most prolific of the cars set to debut at the French auto expo. What you're looking at is a facelifted version of the Toyota Verso, a seven-seat minivan that the Japanese automaker builds in Turkey for sale in Europe, South Africa, China and Israel. Competing with the likes of the Ford C-Max and Volkswagen Touran, the Verso replaced the Corolla Verso in 2009.

Toyota claims it has affected more than 300 changes to the new Verso, including redesigned bumpers front and rear, the former integrating a new grille and restyled to match the new Auris, and the latter incorporating a diffuser of sorts that's likely more visual than functional. In between is an interior with softer plastics and Nappa leather trim for the steering wheel and door panels opposite slimmer wing mirrors. New upholstery options and chrome interior trim are also on offer. Other upgrades include new wheels, driven by an improved 2.0-liter diesel engine that compliments the 2.2-liter diesel and 1.6 and 1.8-liter gasoline engines that carry over.
