Lexus Reveals LF-CC Concept Ahead of Paris

Lexus gives us a pleasant surprise with the reveal of a new coupe concept that previews the next-gen IS and signals a brand-new coupe model.

Ahead of its debut at next week's Paris Motor Show, Lexus has introduced their LF-CC concept, the styling of which the automaker claims will influence its future executive (D-segment) models. Sharing design cues with the LF-LC sports coupe concept that debuted at the Detroit Auto show and adopting the L-finesse design language and signature spindle grille, the LF-CC gives us a good idea at what to expect of the IS saloon when it arrives next year, while also hinting at a new mid-size coupe variant.

The interior is said to be a close preview of what's to come in the future IS: a low driving position, a driver-focused cockpit, high-visibility instrument dials and a wide grip steering wheel. The dashboard is divided into an upper Display Zone, with a multi-display screen, and a lower Operation Zone that integrates a new-design gear shift and touchpad display. It may not look it, but the LF-CC is a hybrid, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit that adopts the Atkinson cycle and direct injection, combined with an electric motor. A similar system is expected to be offered with the GS executive saloon next summer.

The dominating aggressive front grille and overall shape won't change significantly for the model that Lexus has already confirmed for production, whereas the LED headlamps, door handles and mirrors will likely be limited to the concept car. Look out for the LF-CC at the Paris Motor Show, where Lexus will also be displaying the new LS 600h F Sport.
