Peugeot Teases Onyx Supercar Concept

Hybrid supercar to debut at Paris Motor Show shows Peugeot hasn't lost it entirely.

There are some European cars we wish we could get our hands on in America, and there are some we don't. While Alfa Romeo has again delayed its return to North America, Peugeot is one brand we don't miss terribly. But developments in recent years have us rethinking that. The RCZ is one such ponderous vehicle, but we're fine with the Audi TT which it apes. The French automaker just rolled out the 208 GTi, which looks pretty hot, but we're fine getting our hot-hatch kicks in the Ford Fiesta ST and Fiat 500 Abarth.

This, however... this looks like another story altogether. Teased in the enclosed images is what appears to be a new supercar which Peugeot will unveil at the rapidly-approaching Paris Motor Show. Called the Onyx, it reportedly packs 400 horsepower from a 1.6-liter engine driving the rear wheels and paired to an electric motor driving the front.

Unfortunately the Onyx will be strictly a concept car, but we're glad to see Peugeot has found something interesting to do with its time now that it has shut down its Le Mans Prototype program.
