It's really just other drivers. Sure there's the few cases (my buddy) where the biker is to blame, but in most cases it's usually a blissfully-unaware car driver that causes the accident. That being said, it's still an accident.
Survive the day, nothing can replace experience on the road and on the bike, one u learn to ignore your survival reactions avoiding idiot drivers is easy like avoiding pot holes
More bike accidents are a result of inexperience or people showing off on public roads, but accidents do happen, double check when changing lanes and never assume its safe to fly threw an intersection, but that's all u can do to help your self
U can die just a easy in a car as on a bike, bike just requires u to be 100% aware and like I said just ride the bike as if every other car is gonna cut u off or disnt see u, granted bad shit just happens but don't believe what u hear
I do ride, I've logged 50,000 miles accident free, (knock on wood). My point is that so many car enthusiasts use safety as an argument regarding bike V. Car tests, but we're not testing crashes, we're testing performance

A bike is just as easy to drive as a car, are u scared when your driving in a car? I avoid idiot drivers every day on my bike, many of witch I couldnt avoid in a car or truck, riding a bike is just pure fun
U wanna live riding a bike u can't be scared, as soon as u start thinking about it that's when ur survival reactions kick In and those are what make u crash, that and a rider riding beyond his skill

But I think it's safe to say, bike or car, when you're racing, safety isn't the priority, performance is. So it's kind of funny to hear people complain about safety. If they're so worried about safety, don't drive period. it's only surefire safe way
On the incident itself; I went riding with my buddy, and he went down at 70mph around a corner, and he just had rash on one leg (wearing jeans/jacket/boots/gloves). He picked up the bike and road it home. On the other hand, my uncle died on his.

I agree.. Who cares if its comparable?? There are many aftermarket companies who built cars that just bast bikes of all types, so if its possible for cars nowadays to beat bikes, why not see what the supercars can do? Makes perfect sense to me =]
People buy Ferrari and Ducati because of the characteristics associated with both, not because of the number of tires. Since they both represent relatively identical statuses within their respective automotive chains, competition is only natural.
They probably just wanted to see how super bikes stack up to super cars. Not everything needs to be comparable.
You're probably not the only one, but mobs typically aren't associated with credibility or logic. Bikes often outperform these "performance cars" for fractions of the price, leaving owners a choice about what to do with the $100k+ difference.

@colby did u know that was a stunt bike and also wasn't even a sports bike, I beat z06 and my bikes not even a super sport or a 1000, plus just cause it happens on top gear doesn't make it the truth
@colby a stunt rider on a race bike? Something doesn't add up, but regardless, sounds like a fun episode. The great thing is that modern sports cars have really begun to catch up with bikes. I respect both, but LOVE bikes more.

@Colby, he did the right thing by going up against a 675cc sportbike because if it would have been a 1000cc sportbike Tanner wouldn't have had a shot at winning in that Z06
@William Did you even see the latest episode of Top Gear? Tanner Foust beat a stunt rider on a triumph race bike in a 3 mike shoot out through turns and straights with a stock C6 Corvette Z06 and won, and FYI I beat bikes all the time, just depends.

Cornering a bike takes practice and a little bit of balls. Whatever you do don't buy a sport bike and expect to keep up with more Expieranced riders. I have seen more people hurt that way and when I rode I would not let newbies try and keep up with

And cut u off you will be fine on a bike, they have better braking and are smaller so u don't have to go out of the way as much to avoid something or someone that got in your way, not saying there safer then a car but it's easier to avoid stuff on 1
A sport bike will kill a car around a track also, a bike is the perfect machine for cornering, cars just have more comfort and are safer and to answer your question if u pay attention and expect every one to not notice your there
But I love having fun every time I ride, gas mileage is amazing and weather in Vegas is good for it :) hardly any rain.
@John I haven't been riding sport bikes for too long but I love it! I used to ride dirt bikes so maneuvering is easy for me. Buddy bought a '12 R1 for 15 grand and laid it over the next week, lady on her phone cut him off.
Yeah I know what you mean. Had a local guy take his friends R1 for a joy ride and couldn't make the turn on a curve and hit the curb going 110 and flew into a brick wall.
I have a question for the bike riders on here: How is the safety if them? Are they easy to handle after you've been riding for a couple weeks or so? I'm considering buying one, just curious
Personally, I just am not a bike guy. I can totally see the appeal, they sound great and are probably a blast to ride, but I just don't like the increased risk. I always try to give sportbike riders a lot of room.
The only way a car will ever beat a superbike is on a track with a lot of technical corners.
You just gotta ride offensive & defensive as best you can ((ALWAYS RESPECT THE BIKE YOU ARE RIDING)
@Aaron, sometimes their not at fault but they always have fools speeding on a spirtbike in neighborhoods or cities that get killed because a car pulled out in front of him or he ran a stop sign!
When they're not at fault, I mean.
Just started out on a 650R and I love it! Not pushing my luck and wear all my gear but can't wait until I am experienced enough to move up to super bikes! But I'm fine for now :) just bothers me seeing a motorcycle death every other day on the news.

@John, I had a new 2006 ZX-10R at that time & was going home on the interstate from bike night when a guy pulled up on side me in a Viper as well revving his motor so I punch it then he hit the gas; when we got to Williams Blvd he was like a minute behind me
1 hour a week, took about a year, best thing I ever did. If you can, do it, not as expensive as you might think
@john how was it getting your pilots license? Did it take a while, or was it "relatively" non-stressful?
Yea that didn't use to bother me so much but now that i ride it really pisses me off when I see them doing it
I gave up motorcycles and took up flying when people started texting while driving.
When I had a Honda 929rr some guy in a Viper raced me at a stop light. I smoked him do bad that at first I thought he gave up till I saw him hit second and the Viper shifted sideways a bit. Nothing beats a crochrocket for bang for your buck.
