Conquest Reveals $580k Evade SUV

Canadian SUV company unveils its first unarmored beast.
Conquest Vehicles is best known for the Knight XV, its fully-armored luxury flagship. Now the Toronto-based firm has launched the Evade as its first unarmored SUV. Based on its hand-crafted, armored stable-mate, the Evade adopts wraparound headlights and taillights, narrower fender flares, a redesigned front grille, hood scoop, three sunroofs, a wider tail gate with an integrated step. But while that may sound softened, the Evade is more hard-core than most anything else on the road.

When it goes into production this fall, the Evade will be hand-built on a Ford F-550 Super Duty Chassis with an aluminum and steel body. The steering wheel, proprietary door hinges, running boards and even the keys are machined from solid stainless steel, while the handles are machined from a solid block of aluminum. 400 cubic feet of space is provided in the luxurious four-seat cabin that blends military inspired design elements with plush leather and Alcantara trim. Two electric-reclining seats in the back are separated from the driver by a retractable partition with available flat-screen TV and laptop trays. In other words, it's more luxe inside than the tough exterior lets on.
"We wanted EVADE to set a new standard for our company in terms of pushing the boundaries from engineering to design to incorporating new user experiences without compromising the integrity of some of the key highlight design features offered by our armored Knight XV," said Conquest chief William Maizlin. The Evade features an air suspension, power windows, 360-degree roof-mounted, joystick-controlled searchlights and night vision cameras front and rear, all fitted as standard equipment. Of course at $579,000, you pay for all that. Buyers will also be able to choose between gasoline and diesel engines.
