Tramontana’s 888hp V12-Powered Supercar is Pure Spanish Speed

It’s no SSC Ultimate Aero XT, but the new XTR from Tramontana should impress nonetheless.
Spanish automaker Tramontana first gained some notoriety with their V12-powered R model. The sports car which first debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show in concept form was impressive to say the least, as it utilized its 710 horsepower plant to sprint from 0-62mph in only 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 202mph. The Spaniards have recently returned with a Mercedes V12-engined project, the successor to the R.

Dubbed the XTR, the new hypercar could displace as much as 5.5 liters from its twin-turbocharged plant producing as much as 888 horsepower and 722 pound-feet of torque. Power is expected to be transferred to the rear wheels by way of what the Spanish company calls an ultra-rapid competition transmission. The aerodynamically-designed supercar features plenty of upgrades from its predecessor and a very impressive curb weight of about only 3,000lbs. Thanks to its light weight and sleek design, Tramontana's new ride will match the former's 0-62mph time of 3.6 seconds while reaching a much-improved top-end speed of 214mph.

The Tramontana XTR will seat two in a vertical formation with the driver located in the front. It is expected to be priced at around $514,000 (€420,000) and will launch by the end of this year. They produced only 12 units a year of their R model, so we expect to hear more details about XTR production as it makes its way closer to market.
