The iconic car from "Gone in 60 Seconds" is a favorite of tuning houses around the world.
The modern Eleanor Mustang from the feature film (both the original and remake) "Gone in 60 Seconds" is one of the most popular movie cars ever created and we have no doubt that it'll remain so for many years to come. As such, it's only naturally that there has been many imitation Eleanors created since the film's release over 10 years ago. Some of these recreations are awesome, and some are just plain awful. You can decide for yourself whether any of these replicas are Nicholas Cage-worthy by checking them all out ahead.
Classic Recreations was the last company to produce officially licensed Mustang Eleanor replicas. The Oklahoma-based company offered spot-on replicas at a steep price, $109,000 for the 535hp base model and $189,000 for the 770hp top dog. The company also added a NOS system to the Eleanor, in case 770hp isn't enough power to get you where you need to be in 60 seconds.
If you love the idea of driving an Eleanor Mustang, but you hate the thought of having to gas it up every hour, then this ForTwo is for you. This ridiculous recreation was made by Sweden's Thalondesign and is officially called the Smart Eleanor GT 50 percent. Thalondesign left the ForTwos 60hp engine intact, which means that you'll have a difficult time driving down the street in less than 60 seconds.
MIT's Eleanor solar car is identical to the 1967 Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500 from "Gone in 60 Seconds" in name only. This solar car may not feature a 770hp engine and NOS system a la the Classic Recreations Eleanor, but it was much more expensive to build at $243,000. Any publicity is good publicity.
Indian tuners BigDaddyCustoms are the creators of this odd Eleanor tribute you see here. BigDaddyCustoms did this job on the cheap, opting to slap an Eleanor-inspired body kit onto a Chevy Optra as opposed to a Mustang. This would be the worst recreation of the iconic car if not for the ForTwo featured earlier on this list.
