A used Cayman, or even an Sti version would be in late model pre-owned E-92 M3 territory in terms of cost. As an enthusiast, it would be hard to choose a scion over a legend.
I've been shopping for a used Cayman, he's so right they are a bargain! It's a mid enginened turbo charged machine that is nice both inside and out.
The fr-s and br-z is perfect. It's more like a training car. Low horsepower, great handling and affordable. Plus with all the parts out there, it will easy to get 300+hp. I rather keep my fr-s stock and just get new tires.
@ brian, true, it won't have AWD due to saving some weight but they said it's gonna have 250 hp, but u're talking about making an STI version so expect upgraded suspensions brakes throttle everything. BUT, it will succeed IF they manage to keep its

They should have had a BMW Z4M in that mix. would have been interesting... Still id take a honda s2000 over this pick. ha then take the cash id save and tune it up! s2k is like the toyota with the right amount of power.

Sti version may not be AWD (Why would it when there's the WRX) but I'm sure it'll have a turbo :D
Brian, your right, this will never be awd, but there is an sti version on the way. The demand for an sti version is to high to be ignored. Subaru even said they plan on bringing the sti brz to market next year. Check your facts!
Was coming home from work the other day on my motorcycle and came up on a FRS. It def handles thru the corners. Hes right abt 10/10ths. It doesnt have alot of grunt out corners it seems. It looks great tho
Well domi, there's no such thing. They already said they can't put awd in them. Also why would a company make a car that would topple their flagship the wrx Sti. That would be poor business planning. It will never happen.
True but the sti may be at at least 9k more than the base and that could be before some optional goodies that the sti's could get. This is in reference to the wrx sti's being around 10k over base. I may be wrong. Hopefully I am, I want one.
That Toyota is looking like one awesome car, but that Cayman is absolutely gorgeous! And that sound was a very nice touch. And of course, the 370z is just too big to compete. Not even in the competition.
So the 370Z doesn't handle as well as we thought & the TOYOBARU is the "poor man's" Cayman!

Lol @Adam xD I had a 370z try to race my Corvette yesterday, and on the interstate at that! I was laughing when he got right up on me, I then proceeded to embarrass him. He was just a little black dot 10 seconds later. Ha. They have no top end power.
I would consider a Cayman s IF I had the money or maybe a Carrera, but in this comparison I'd have to go with either this or the GT86. Or the BRZ since its a Subie.
id take this car out of the three cause its uniqe and i like the purr of the VQ one of the best V6's in the world

Ha wow comparing a Z to a Cayman. Similar ideas of a sports car, completely different execution. Cayman blows it out of the water. Heck my 12 year old S2000 FEELS faster than the Z. Chris Harris, you need to compare the S2000 and the GT86.
I agree with Chris, when you think of a sports car the first thing that comes to mind is "a fast car"; then you see if it handles well, shifts good, comfortable to drive, & light the Cayman S has it all!
you guys should try paying attention, Harris called a USED cayman the bargain of the century. I would definitely pay for the extra maintenance on the Porsche than deal with the half-baked gt86. a true sports car should wow you in all aspects

I'd take the z and pocket the other 30k instead of buying the Porsche, and the z looks better imo

I'd take the the Z I've seen a few in a matte blue finish and they are amazing in that color

Love this color, my 993 Carrera is in a similar color with a black interior (cloth plaid patterned inserts!).
