I have a 2010 GT 'Stang. Sure I wish I had waited for the 5.0 or the Boss, and sure the Camaro has better suspension/handling. But even though it's an "inferior' Mustang, I love it to death. Just how Challenger owners love theirs! To each their own!
Maybe it's just me but arguing which is better is well... A bit pointless. Muscle/Pony cars are supposed to be a base car which owners can upgrade/modify to his/her liking. And they are supposed to be cheap!
@Jordan The Fire bird has always been a rebadged Camaro, I didn't mind when they did it 50 years ago and I don't mind now.

Alvaro, you're absolutely right. It would've been a little bigger than the Camaro, more luxurious, and awesome. Not a day goes by where I wonder what could've been.
And plus every one knows if the GTO was still here it would of been the best the best muscle car

@Sam No...The 1970 Chevy Chevelle 454SS was estimated 450hp but really made 580 at the fly wheel and 605lb/ft of torque at the crank. Dodge's 426 hemi also made around 560 at flywheel.
@Jordan. The Barracuda started out in the same class as the Dodge Dart (an A body) from 1964-1969. For 1970-1974 it shared the same platform as the Challenger (an E body).
@Sam: Are you sure it wasn't in race form? Because Nascar stock cars developed about 500-600hp.
Plus the Barracuda counts as a muscle car doesn't it? Not a pony car, if I'm wrong let me know, but I thought they were in different classes.

The BOSS 429 Mustang was the most powerful car out of the US in 1969 and 1970. It was conservatively rated at around 385 horsepower but actually made well over 520. That's a lot even for 2012, but was astronomical for the late 60's.
So many of you love making false claims about your favorite car. If you want to debate use facts and be true to them. By that I mean don't find a track time where your fav won by 1 sec then say oh it destroys (opposing car)
Bruce you really sound like a fanboy right now lol. Chrysler puts more time into their NA engines on purpose. It's so the buyer can make his or her own add ons. If your so stuck on Ford then that's fine, but don't criticise something that you don't know the meaning behind. Oh & JORDAN as far as the 1970 CUDA/CHALLY good cars but I would take the 1970 Mustang BOSS 429 or MACH 1 429 any day over them Dodge/Plymouth cars (now enough with the pissing contest)

You aren't no engineer for Ford, so what makes you say that? With the way Ford is going, its a possibility.

Who said that all car critics picked the mustang? There were many higher up magazines that picked the camaro
Also in terms of power how did the Mustang and Camaro compare to the 1970 Challenger and Cuda? They didn't. This isn't coming from just me. This is from Ford and Chevy guys that have owned one of both or that lost in a street race back in the day.

@Abraham, since 1964 Ford has never cut production of the Mustang, they might have made a few ugly ones over the years(like the Mustang 2) but they kept refining it & trust me when I say this they will NEVER get rid of the 5.0 for a bullshit ecoboost engine!
I have to say, I pledged myself to Chevy, so I'm biased. But what they did to the Camaro was a little wrong. They rushed it, they needed the money so I don't think they could've done what they wanted. For a had all the time they needed and it shows. But once they start putting ecoboost engines in the Stang, they'll lose all credibility. Next Camaro will be outstanding.
@Jordan, it was 1964 when Ford started making the Mustang then in Chevy made the Camaro in 1966 & sold it as a 1967 model; in 1970 Dodge made its first Challengers
The Challenger is heavy but it only weighs 50lbs more than the ZL1. This is only going off what I found on google. The Challenger at 4170lbs and the ZL1 at 4120lbs. I'm not sure if the gas tanks are full or not on these figures.
GM only made the camaro because the mustang was such a huge success (referring to the '60's)

For all the people saying the ZL1 beats the GT500 on any track anytime, you're wrong. The only issue with the GT500 is the brakes, which can easily be fixed.
We all have our favorites. Mines te Camaro but I can't bash on a mustang with that much power and that kind of sound and a challenger that looks that amazing. Be thankful there's competition that brings out the best in each of them and stop arguing.
Except now of the cars mentioned here are muscle cars.... They're pony cars
@Jordan Dodge has been slacking with the Challenger: 1. Its too heavy 2. The SRT cost alot more then a base SS or 5.0 that has a 400+ hp motor 3. Now Mustang & Camaro has 3 different hi-po models, Dodge dont (its not even close Jordan)

Does anyone remember the 2011 Spectre 341 Challenge? A stock 2011 SRT Challenger came in 12th out of 37, beating a Ferrari California. And most of the cars that entered was modified.
I honestly don't see why anybody would buy this particular Camaro. The GT500 has it beat, said all the critics, and if your a Chevy guy, just buy the vette...
Ok, let's say the muscle car market has changed. These muscle cars, including the ZL1 are still blown out of the water by pretty much anything else. Like I said, of you want a circuit tool, buy a corvette. Only a little bit more than ZL1.
All you Camaro and Mustang guys need to remember that the Challenger is naturally aspirated. If you supercharge it, it would be just as fast as those two.
This car has an ls engine, you can make if have as much power as tha gt500, easily.
IMO, I'd take the GT500, I prefer the looks and the power. If I am buying a 50k muscle car, than I want power. If I am spending 50k for a good handling car that's fast, then I'd take a cayman (s).

Id have the zl1 because I want the looks and sounds like a muscle car and a car that I can take to a circuit and go around corners because I have real suspension. And it's a car that I can take to the dragstrip because it has 580hp

As much as I love the challenger that's true, it's overpriced and just not as good as Camaro or stang. And you Camaro People can rant on all you want about handling and stuff cuz that's all the Camaro has. That's not even the point of a muscle car...
