The German automaker has released the first pictures and a brief teaser video of a race-liveried RS5 Coupe playing with some motorcycles made by its newly-acquired subsidiary Ducati. "We are teaming up with Ducati at Pikes Peak to celebrate our common heritage at this iconic mountain," stated Audi on the release. "In the spirit of coming together, we have something special in store for our biggest fans tomorrow." So expect some more goodies tomorrow. Along with playing with its new toy Ducati, Audi has returned to the famous hillclimb event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its previous record.
A quarter-century ago legendary Audi racer Walter Rohl set the fastest time on the dirt track. Since the course was later paved, Rohl's record still stands. Whether the special edition RS5 Coupe - which looks like a stock, roadgoing model with special livery - will race up Pikes Peak or not remains to be seen. There is no mention of the model on the official competitor list, but we'll have to wait until the official announcement to know for sure.
