Comments - Porsche 911 Evolution: Type 997

Published: Jul 06, 2012
Description: Introduced in 2004 as a 2005 model, the first thing that needs to be said about the Type 997 is that Porsche worked out the headlight situation. This is perhaps significant, because although the mecha...

This almost looks like a RUF kit
Garett Martin Jul 07, 2012
My dad has a porsche like that
Cory Allen Jul 07, 2012
Sick as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu**!!!!!!!!!!
Wyatt Gordon Jul 06, 2012
If this was the same blue as that techart tuned one later in the article, it would be best
Pablo Herasme Jul 06, 2012
Its called tradition
Paul Dickey Jul 06, 2012
There's always that one person that doesn't get it.
Austin Lark Jul 06, 2012
Yeah they can handle great I can admit that and they are great all around cars. I just don't like the looks of them. they all have a beetle looking from end and the same kind of body style through the entire lineup.
Calogero Rumeo Jul 06, 2012
Porsche is one of the best companies out there and if you're gonna talk smack about it, then I don't think you know too much about cars. I'm sure if you ever drove in a Porsche Austin you wouldn't be saying this.
Edward Jang Jul 06, 2012
More than 100 features and designs are different if you are intrested in little.
Joe Lamouk Jul 06, 2012
Why are you so obsessed with 0-60 ? Handling is the real point of interest.
John Serely Jul 06, 2012
@austin if you know about them, they look very different, and if you pay about 160k or so, you get a car that goes from 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Also, magazines have gotten 0-60 times under 4 seconds for thr 991 911 carrera s, so you obviously dont know what your talking about hahaha...
Austin Lark Jul 06, 2012
As I said before you have to pay upwards of 100 grand to get anywhere near a 4 second 0-60. Turbo s is more than 150,000.
Chris Penza Jul 06, 2012
I was just about to say no Volkswagen beetle comparisons. And Austin the gt3 rs does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds, and the turbo s does it in about 3
Austin Lark Jul 06, 2012
I've never understood what's so great about a Porsche. They almost all look the same and u don't get anything below a 4.5 0-60 time until pay 100 grand for one. Pretty much pricy beetles that have been flattened out.
John Serely Jul 06, 2012
Looks great, color works on this car
Chris Gaines Jul 06, 2012
still don't like the beetle headlights
Carlton Salmon Jul 06, 2012
Wow that's nice!
Devin Babyn Jul 06, 2012
This gen is just gorgeous. Such an improvement over the others
Tobias Mersinger Jul 06, 2012
Now that's a look I like. Just beautiful...
Description: The look of the car is, again, mostly the same as the 996, with the major exception being the headlights. The back of the car is now 3.5 inches wider, although there were enough widebody variants of t...

911 had might as well be its own brand now, damn
Walker Carroll Jul 06, 2012
The GT2s have turbos. Not GT3s
Tobias Mersinger Jul 06, 2012

Mark Boulton Jul 06, 2012
Look at the front marker lights, its a 997 Aero kit car.
Jon Wheel Jul 06, 2012
997 mkI tail lights look like that
Brady Williams Jul 06, 2012
It is a 996 look at the taillights
Chris Penza Jul 06, 2012
I honestly think this is a 996. Look at the headlights
John Serely Jul 06, 2012
Completely agree
Carlton Salmon Jul 06, 2012

Carlton Salmon Jul 06, 2012
Agreed, but not sure why they'd leave the rear lid up in the photo...

WOW! There is so much Gen 1 and Gen 2 information intermixed here its crazy! The 997.1 Turbo used the 964 based engine! One of the most notable differences in the 997.2 Turbo was Porsche used the Non-aircooled engine, it is the Carrera Engine.
Description: This made for even smother application of power than even 996's sequential system. The 997 Turbo was even faster than the Porsche Carrera GT, a V10-powered supercar released just two years prior,...

Dillon Dixon Jul 06, 2012
I'm obsessed with this color scheme for this GT3 RS. It's perfect.
Carlton Salmon Jul 06, 2012
Would so love to drive one of these one day. Would love to own the 4.0 litre version in my dream collection as it's my favourite 911.

Saw this spec a little while ago. Best 911 I had ever seen, until I see a GT2 RS or the 4.0 RS.
Jon Wheel Jul 06, 2012
Seen this but with black wheels. Not as stunning as I hoped.
Derek Hedtke Jul 06, 2012
