Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing Coupe and Roadster Concepts

A French artist has put together a design study based on the 300 SL coupe and roadster.

Slimane Toubal is a clay and digital modeler from France who has a long history working in automotive design (he counts Renault, Audi, Citroen, Honda and Toyota as his former employers) and enjoys creating concept cars which perk his interest. His latest project focuses on creating a modern-day interpretation of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG's predecessor, the 300 SL. Toubal's 300 SL design study comprises of both a coupe and roadster version of the famed Mercedes model.

The latter has received a new retractable hard-top in place of the original's soft-top. Hard-tops for roadster have become the nouveau trend as of late, with the recently-released McLaren 12C Spyder also making use of one in a three-piece setup.
