Maury, I can't afford any of these cars either. However, if I wanted to read about "affordable" cars I would go elsewhere and leave this site the way it is.

I never liked convertible/open top conversions of supercars but this and the Veyron gs are the only exceptions

I'm about as critical of a person as they come, but I'm speechless. Bar none...McLaren now manufactures the sexiest car on the planet. Tip of the Hat to McLaren on a job very well done.

i think it looks great but i would definetly take the 458 spyder over this
@ghee if you read the article it said that McLaren contacted the same people who had their hand in the roof design of the 458

I agree... Looks way better than the coupe. I'm digging the different color (carbon fiber?) panel in the side intake too.

@boldcars Well since it is a hardtop convertible, I would think it would be slightly longer.
How is having the exhaust come out of the middle of the rear fascia conservative?
Not sure just know that these cars are not my favorite... They are just lacking something I think their design was too conservative they needed to make it represent mclaren... Not a grandpa sports car company. Still would by the old F1 over it anyday
It looks much better as a spider than as a coupe. Here, it actually looks full of emotion. As a coupe, its just boring to look at

@edmond Exactly why I would take a 458 over this. Though I never drove one, I take other people's word for it...
Hey guys, I was lucky enough to test drive this beast a few weeks back ( friend of ours works for car middle east)... Unfortunately there's no soul in this car... Whatsoever... Hate to say it but it's pure function over emotion...
A solid spoke rim would probably look better but I like this convertible version.
Car and color looks beautiful but I think a better choice of rims would make it even nicer.

I'm sooo glad they went with the retractable hardtop, I think they are a lot better than soft tops
